Li Xiannian was born in 1909 in Huang'an, Hubei Province. At that time, the country was still in a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. After Li Xiannian joined the ranks of the Communist Party of China, he successively served as secretary of the Gaoqiao District CPC Committee, political commissar of the 33rd Regiment of the 11th Division of the Red Fourth Front, and member of the Northwest Revolutionary Military Commission. Li Xiannian's outstanding ability to lead and fight was unanimously recognized by the whole party, and in 1934 he was promoted by the Party Central Committee to the Central Executive Committee of the Cpc Soviet Republic.
