On February 1, the first day of the first lunar month, although the outdoor temperature was low, the Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, Deyang, was still full of people.

Since March last year, with the development of a new round of archaeological excavations in the sanxingdui site sacrifice area, a large number of bronzes, jades, gold objects and ivory have been unearthed, bringing many surprises to the world, and also attracting tourists from all over the world to Guanghan and feel the mysterious ancient Shu civilization in the Sanxingdui museum.

The restoration center is highly enthusiastic about the new visitors to the cultural relics

On the afternoon of February 1, reporters from the Sichuan Daily All-Media New Year Grassroots Interview Team came to the Sanxingdui Museum Archaeological Finishing and Cultural Relics Protection and Restoration Center. This is an open cultural relics restoration center, separated by a layer of glass, visitors can clearly see the process of cultural relics restorers cleaning and restoring different types of excavated cultural relics. At the same time, the center also introduced the relevant knowledge of cultural relics excavation and restoration to visitors through exhibition boards, videos and other means.

"I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the restoration center." Mr. Wang, a tourist from Mianyang, told reporters that seeing the bronze mask unearthed in the Sanxingdui site sacrifice area on the spring evening of CCTV prompted him to come again to the Sanxingdui Museum, "Since last year, I have seen a lot of reports on the new archaeological achievements of the Sanxingdui site sacrifice area, as a Sichuanese, I feel very proud, I heard that sanxingdui had two newly excavated cultural relics before the Spring Festival, and I wanted to come and see." ”

The two new cultural relics mentioned by Mr. Wang are a bronze statue of a bird standing in Pit 3 of the Sanxingdui site and a bronze kneeling figure of Pit 4 that was newly excavated last year. The reporter saw in the restoration center that the two cultural relics attracted many tourists to stop and take a closer look, from the unique shape of the cultural relics to the delicate ornamentation on the cultural relics, the colorful charm of the ancient Shu civilization makes people linger.

Zhang Yuefen, a staff member of the Exhibition and Storage Department of sanxingdui Museum, told reporters that this is the first Spring Festival holiday after the open cultural relics restoration center was put into use, and "the popularity of the center was beyond our expectations." "The reporter saw at the entrance of the center that due to the implementation of the flow restriction inside the exhibition hall, tourists lined up outside the exhibition hall." The purpose of creating such an open cultural relics restoration center is to spread the knowledge of cultural relics restoration to everyone by truly presenting the fine work of cultural relics workers. ”

After repairing the largest bronze mask, he was busy cleaning up the smallest

Chinese New Year's Eve night, under the gaze of hundreds of millions of viewers across the country, excavated from the No. 3 pit of the Sanxingdui site, the largest bronze mask with the most complete shape, the largest volume and the best preservation in the world was officially unveiled. Behind this mask is a meticulous restoration by Guo Hanzhong, deputy director of the Sanxingdui Museum's exhibition and storage department, which lasted for more than two months.

From the extraction of this mask, to reinforcement, to restoration, Guo Hanzhong participated in the whole process. Guo Hanzhong told reporters that because he knew that the bronze mask would meet with the national audience at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Chinese New Year's Eve that night, he sat in front of the TV early and waited. When he saw the bronze mask reveal his true face little by little, as a restorer, he was proud of his work.

On the first day of the first lunar month, Guo Hanzhong came to the Sanxingdui Museum Archaeological Finishing and Cultural Relics Protection and Restoration Center early. Due to the new round of archaeological excavations in the sacrificial area of the Sanxingdui site, a large number of cultural relics have been unearthed, and Guo Hanzhong and his colleagues have been busy cleaning up and restoring the cultural relics recently.

In the afternoon, when the reporter came to the center, Guo Hanzhong was cleaning up the floating soil on a bronze mask. "Yesterday we released the most complete and largest bronze mask in the current form after restoration, and the one I cleaned up today can be said to be the smallest bronze mask."

Guo Hanzhong held a piece of bamboo that had been processed by himself in his hand and gently pried off the soil on the mask, "Because this bronze mask is relatively small and relatively complete, the cleaning work is expected to be completed in two days." However, because this mask is squeezed and deformed, it is difficult to recover later. ”

The dirt pried off the bronze mask was packed into a special sealed bag by Guo Hanzhong. "Whether it's the cleaned dirt or the clay blocks, they all have the information needed for archaeology attached to them, and we will send them to the laboratory for testing."
