At the end of December last year, he underwent surgery for peritonitis and was eventually admitted to the intensive care unit due to complications that occurred during the operation. The situation was initially getting better, but in the last few days, the condition recured, and finally he died tragically.

Zamparini changed 33 managers during his presidency of the club. He took Venice from Serie C to Serie A and then, in turn, Brought Palermo to Serie A and the UEFA Cup.

It is worth mentioning that Zamparini also dug argentine star Pastore from small teams to Palermo.
