Chinese Celebrate the New Year in Space for the First Time The Shenzhou 13 astronauts wish the motherland prosperity

Beijing, 31 Jan (Xinhua) -- Pasting Spring Festival, hanging lanterns, festive New Year paintings, red Chinese knots... The Shenzhou 13 astronauts, who are on a "business trip" in space, dressed up the Chinese space station to welcome the traditional festival of Chinese- the Spring Festival.

On January 31, the lunar Chinese New Year's Eve, the Shenzhou 13 astronauts sent a video in the distant space to send blessings to the motherland and the people. Zhai Zhigang, the commander holding the couplet, said: "I wish everyone a happy new year, good health and all the best." Dressed in festive costumes, Wang Yaping wished the children across the country "living and thriving" and wished our great motherland "prosperity, prosperity and strength." Holding the word "Fu", Ye Guangfu wished the people of the whole country "a happy New Year and a happy family".

This is the first time that Chinese has welcomed the New Year and the New Year in the "China Palace", which is 400 kilometers away from the earth. A month ago, they celebrated New Year's Day here, welcoming the first rays of sunshine in 2022.

It is understood that in order to allow the Shenzhou 13 astronauts to be able to eat fragrant dumplings during the Spring Festival, scientific and technological personnel specially prepared three kinds of dumplings: pork cabbage filling, mackerel filling, and yellow cauliflower filling.

On October 16, 2021, the Shenzhou 13 manned spacecraft took off and docked with the Tianhe core module autonomously and rapidly, and astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu began a six-month space stay. As of now, all three of them have been in orbit for more than 100 days, and Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping have become the longest-term Chinese male and female astronauts in orbit, respectively, and this record will be maintained at least until 2023.

According to the plan, the mainland will fully complete the space station in 2022. In the future, more and more Chinese will celebrate the New Year and the Spring Festival in space.
