Present a set of "fragrant new year" stories.

"The naughty boy burns firecrackers, and the neighbor cuts the window flowers." Window stickers are one of the ancient Spring Festival traditions, implying beauty and auspiciousness, evolved from the art of paper-cutting.

Paper-cutting, a popular chinese hollow art, as the name suggests, is to use scissors to cut the paper into colorful patterns, such as tuanhua cui willow, landscape birds and beasts, spring characters pouring blessing and so on.

As early as 1,500 years, paper-cutting has appeared, and it has become increasingly prosperous in the long river of history, and to this day, the art of paper-cutting is still constantly rendering the new taste of Guangzhou.

Chen Cuibing, a non-hereditary inheritor of Guangzhou paper-cutting, studied under Guangzhou paper-cutting artist Wu Haiqing, who has been engaged in paper-cutting for more than 20 years, and her works combine the local customs of Guangzhou to create, with a full Lingnan charm.

Chen Cuibing suffered a serious illness when she was one year old, and since then her left limb has not been very convenient to walk, but even if her feet cannot be forced, she still insists on leg and hand strength training every day, cycling and swimming. Every morning at about 7 o'clock, she gets up and rides her bicycle to the swimming pool, even if the temperature in the cold winter is only 7 ° C, she still maintains the habit of winter swimming.

The same is true of paper-cutting, "the paper-cutting process is tedious, and a small work takes two days to complete, and at least eight hours a day is created." Chen Cuibing said. She admitted that paper-cutting needs talent, but it needs perseverance, it is difficult for ordinary people to have patience to insist, disabled people can sit quietly for a long time, and have the advantage of better learning paper-cutting skills.

Chen Cuibing's paper-cut works on the theme of the Year of the Tiger

"I use paper cuts to express the ideals in my heart, which is the greatest happiness in life." Chen Cuibing has created many works on the theme of people with disabilities, showing the infinite possibilities in the lives of people with disabilities, reflecting the spirit of self-improvement and hard work of people with disabilities.

In addition to her own creation, Chen Cuibing will also pass on the paper-cutting skills to others, hoping to let more people inherit this handicraft through teaching. As early as 2012, Chen Cuibing was invited by the Guangzhou Municipal Center of Culture to teach the paper-cutting process to the public. In more than five years, she has held many courses such as paper-cutting and silk screen flower craftsmanship, trained more than 500 students, and contributed to the inheritance of traditional folk art.
