The opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics will follow the dual flag bearer model, and after Zhao Shuai and Zhu Ting served as the flag bearers of the opening ceremony of the Chinese sports delegation at the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Chinese sports delegation once again chose the male and female double flag bearers.

"It is an honor to be the standard-bearer of the Chinese delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics." Gao Tingyu wrote on social media, "This is also a role that I have always dreamed of. Gao Tingyu won the bronze medal in the men's 500m race in speed skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, becoming the first male player from the Chinese team to win a medal in the speed skating event at the Winter Olympics.

Knowing that he was the standard-bearer of the opening ceremony of the Chinese delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics, Zhao Dan expressed his deep honor: "I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the Winter Olympics, and now I have an additional identity, which makes me feel more responsible and mission. In the 2019-2020 season, Zhao Dan represented the Chinese team in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Switzerland for the first time and won the seventh place, becoming the first Chinese women's steel frame snow team to enter the Winter Youth Olympic Games.
