The poem we're going to read comes from the Southern Song Dynasty poet Dai Retro
Dai retro, character style, often lived in Nantang Shiping Mountain, so he called himself Shiping, Shiping Qiao Yin, Tiantai Huangyan (now part of Taizhou, Zhejiang) people.
He was born in the Southern Song Dynasty to a poor family of scholars, and his father reached a degree of fascination with poetry, "adapting himself to poetry, refusing to do the work of lifting children, and finally being poor without regret."
And Dai Retro not only inherited the "gene" of his father's poetry and love of poetry, but also inherited his father's style and backbone, preferring to cloth for life, not to live a lifetime, and to travel the rivers and lakes.
He once studied poetry from Lu You, and his works were influenced by the poetry style of the late Tang Dynasty, which was also in the style of Jiangxi poetry, and was a famous poet of the Jianghu poetry school in the Southern Song Dynasty. After returning home and living in seclusion, he died in his eighties.
So in the Southern Song Dynasty, what were the customs of the Spring Festival?
"Except for the Night"

Sweep away the huts and dust,
A blazing incense worships the Nine Heavens.
All things greet the spring and send the remnants of wax,
The year ends this evening.
Raw pots of fiery roaring bamboo,
Shou Nian Shu opened to listen to the praise pepper.
The wild man foreknowledges that farming is good,
The snow has not completely disappeared in the third winter.
During the Spring Festival, there was a custom of "dusting" cleaning, although the house where the poet lived at that time was simple, it was also cleaned up.
Starting from "Lapa Ba", "Worshiping the Nine Heavens" requires a series of rituals such as "ancestor worship", "worship of gods", "sending stoves", "sacrifices" and so on.
The December of the lunar calendar is the Waxing Moon, which refers to the remnant winter. Everything in the world is saying goodbye to the cruel winter and welcoming the arrival of the new spring.
The fire in the brazier was burning vigorously, and the sound of firecrackers was incessant.
The folk custom of "making a fire" is to Chinese New Year's Eve night at the "mouth" of the earth stove with soil blocks or stones to form a circle, in which a relatively large "wealth fire" (this "wealth fire" uses large, dry tree roots), covered with Chinese New Year's Eve "Chinese New Year's Eve rice" and "stove hall" in the embers of grass and wood ash, this "wealth fire" should be maintained until the first day of the New Year, which means "continuous source of wealth", "incense continuation", "prosperity and development" and so on.
Chinese New Year's Eve dinner, I heard the sound of everyone toasting to the elders with pepper and cypress wine.
On the first day of the first lunar month of the ancient lunar calendar, the ancestors were worshipped with pepper cypress wine or offered to the parents to show their birthday greetings, which was called "ode to pepper".
Farmers already knew in advance that next year would be a bumper harvest year, because the snow in winter had not yet melted.
