The Guardian said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admired Arsenal's Nketiah. The shooter is at the top of his reinforcements list and is Newcastle's number one target in the final days of the winter window.

Nketiah is currently attending a training camp in Dubai with the team, but he may not stay long.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday that Newcastle was close to signing Nketiah and is now quietly closing the deal. Negotiations with Arsenal are going well and Newcastle hopes Nketiah will come to the club this weekend to complete the transfer.

Crystal Palace is no longer a possible destination for Nketiah, whose previous offer was rejected by Arsenal. They are currently pushing to turn Philippe Matta's loan contract into a permanent transfer.
