It is reported that the total investment of the project is 15 billion yuan, with a total construction area of 545,000 square meters, settled in Hubei Wuhan Optics Valley Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park on December 3, 2021, which is to expand the production of existing 6th-generation semiconductor new display devices, and the monthly production capacity will be increased from the existing 53,000 pieces to 98,000 pieces, and it is planned to be completed in 2025.

The t5 production line adopts VR technology, touch screen technology, MiniLED backlight display technology, LTPO technology, etc., mainly producing small and medium-sized display devices based on LTPS TFT-LCD, involving high-end display products such as vehicle, laptop, flat panel, VR display panel and so on.

It is understood that Wuhan Huaxing, as the R & D and production base of TCL Huaxing's small and medium-sized display business, has built two high-end panel production lines. Among them, the t3 project started construction in 2014, is the first 6-generation LTPS display panel production line in China, the t4 project started construction in 2017, is the first domestic 6-generation flexible display panel production line focusing on folding displays, and the current t3 and t4 projects have reached the design capacity.

Korean media: TCL Huaxing plans to break into Apple's iPhone OLED supply chain

South Korean media The Elec reported on Thursday (27th) that TCL Huaxing has set up a team to evaluate and verify its production line, planning to break into apple's iPhone OLED screen supply chain.

Apple's iPhone 12/13 series is supplied by Samsung, LG and BOE, with the largest order volume from Korean suppliers such as Samsung and LG, and BOE only supplies Apple with a small amount of 6.1-inch standard OLED. After BOE, there is now another Chinese manufacturer trying to break into Apple's OLED supply chain.

Sources pointed out that TCL Huaxing and Apple are still in the early stages of negotiations, the two companies first reviewed the OLED screens produced at the T4 factory in Wuhan, and if it meets Apple's requirements, TCL Huaxing is planning to invest in a demonstration line.

TCL Huaxing's T4 plant can manufacture six generations of flexible OLEDs with a panel size of 1500x1850mm, and the plant has a monthly production capacity of 45,000 (glass) substrates after the plant is put into operation in three phases.

The Elec report pointed out that Apple's decision to include Huaxing Optoelectronics in its supply chain is less likely, because BOE can already produce screens with the same specifications, and BOE has a monthly production capacity of 144,000 pieces, much higher than Huaxing Optoelectronics. Apple could also use BOE as leverage to force Samsung and LG to cut prices. (Source: LEDinside Collation/Juheng Network, Cover Image Source: Paixin Network)
