On the evening of January 28, the dance drama "Five Stars out of the East" kicked off the national tour in Shanghai Culture Square. On the stage, the graceful "light dance", the atmospheric "splendid" dance, and the fiery "market dance" are dazzling. Since the second round of performances in Beijing last year, "Five Stars out of the East" has received many praises, and has also been invited to participate in CCTV's "National Treasures Exhibition Season" and Henan Satellite TV's "Dance Millennium" and other programs.
Dance Drama "Five Stars out of the East"
Gulimina Maimaiti, a young Uyghur dancer, plays the heroine of the play, Princess Chunjun of the Western Regions. The "Lantern Dance" performed by her in "Dance Millennium", "Ancient Call", has been played nearly 1.5 million times on Station B. Dancers dance with bright lights in their hands, staging a moving scene of "picking stars with your hands".
The concept of "Five Stars Out of the East" comes from the national first-class cultural relics "Five Stars Out of the East and China" excavated from the ruins of The Ancient Silk Road in Xinjiang and Tiannia. In October 1995, members of the Sino-Japanese Niya Site Academic Expedition found a piece of brocade in an ancient tomb at the Niya Site in Minfeng County, Hotan Region, with a length of 18.5 cm and a width of 12.5 cm, with eight Chinese characters in seal body: "Five Stars Out of the East and China". After thousands of years, the colors are still as bright as ever. The tapestry is now a national first-class cultural relic, and the excavation of "Five Stars Out of the East and Benefiting China" is also hailed as one of the greatest discoveries of Chinese archaeology in the 20th century.
The dance drama begins from the archaeological site of Nya, where archaeologists discovered the "Five Stars Out of the East and Benefit China" brocade arm, and entered the time and space tunnel in the wind and sand, unfolding the story behind this brocade for the audience.
"Five Stars out of the East" collects a variety of dance vocabulary, bringing surprises to the audience. The "lantern dance" of the night feast full of western colors can find the shadow of the national dance; the "bungee" dance section where the people of all ethnic groups dance together seems to be a mixture of street dance and tap dance; the sleeve bending shown in the "splendid embroidery" belongs to the classical dance, and the masses "eat melon dance" are rich and interesting. The Shanghai performance version added many "small surprises", not only with the integration of popular elements on the Internet, but also through the addition of new props to make the stage visual more eye-catching. Several popular dance sections have also been polished with excellence.
The dance drama "Five Stars out of the East" lasted two years from the preparation of the rehearsal to the stage. In order to tell this story well, the main creative team went to Hetian in Xinjiang to collect style, and extracted artistic vocabulary from the archaeological historical facts, local folk customs, national costumes, ethnic music and other aspects of hotan area, accumulating precious materials for creation.
Chief choreographer Wang Ge said: "The collision and integration of cultures in this work is mainly expressed through the integration between people and people, the characteristics of this drama are not heavy, eloquent, using humor, relaxed performance, in a very smooth narrative suddenly into another rhythm, such a way of expression makes the audience have a sense of novelty." ”
Costume design Yang Donglin introduced that the clothing color, clothing style, pattern design and other aspects of "Five Stars out of the East" combine the elements in the excavated cultural relics, which are real and vivid. Stage design is also artistically processed on the basis of historical materials.
After the Shanghai station, the dance drama "Five Stars out of the East" team will also tour the Shandong Provincial Capital Grand Theater, Foshan Grand Theater, Quanzhou Grand Theater, Shenzhen Binhai Art Center and other places.
