Recently, Mercedes-Benz and autopilot sensor manufacturer Luminar Technologies, Inc. Announced a partnership aimed at industrializing and integrating Luminar's underlying lidar technology into cars produced in the Mercedes-Benz series.
If you want to achieve true autonomous driving capabilities in production vehicles, you must industrialize hardware, software, and all of these systems that work. In the face of the same goal, the two sides will conduct research on improving the autonomous driving ability of a number of vehicles such as automatic braking and cruising.
Mercedes-Benz will use Luminar's lidar system in new models in the future to jointly improve and introduce technologies related to autonomous driving, such as LiDAR lidar. The technology may be put into mass production within three to five years.
