Delta Electronics was attacked by the Conti Ransomware or spread to Apple and Tesla

A few days ago, Delta Electronics, an electronics manufacturing company in Taiwan, issued a statement saying that it was subjected to a ransomware attack, which occurred on January 21, 2022, and was related to the Conti ransomware gang.

Although Delta Electronics claimed that the attack did not affect its core production system. However, local media reported that a reporter had obtained a copy of the internal incident report, which showed that the attack was actually very serious - Delta Electronics' more than 1,500 servers and more than 12,000 computers had been encrypted by the attackers.

Because Delta Electronics is currently the mainstream SUPPLIER of UPS solutions and supplies power components to companies such as Apple and Tesla. It is unclear whether the attack will have an impact on its customers' product offerings. Delta Electronics said that the company has detected the attack at the first time, and its security team intervened, took measures against the infected system, and began to resume operations. At the same time, the company is working with Trend Micro and Microsoft to minimize losses.

The attackers allegedly demanded a ransom of $15 million from the Taiwanese electronics maker. At present, Conti's ransomware attack website has not mentioned Delta Electronics' name, which usually means that the two sides are still negotiating the ransom payment. Delta Electronics has yet to recover most of its systems, its official website remains paralyzed, and the company is using an alternative web server to keep in touch with customers, according to people familiar with the matter.
