On January 26, the new generation of Toyota Sequoia was officially released. Positioned as a full-size large SUV, the new car is based on the Toyota TNGA-F platform, and has undergone a significant upgrade in appearance and interior, which has many similarities with the new Tantu style. In terms of power, it is equipped with the i-Force Max hybrid system consisting of a 3.5T V6 engine and will be launched overseas in the summer of 2022.
The new car offers five configuration styles to choose from, including the more sporty TRD Pro model and the Captone model that favors luxury attributes. In terms of appearance, the new car adopts a new family-style design, and the huge grille plus the iconic headlight group presents a very powerful aura. The lower enclosure also adopts a layered design similar to that of The Tamtra and is equipped with LED fog lights in the skid area.
On the side of the body, while retaining the huge sense of mass, the new car adopts a suspended roof design, plus a concave front and rear fenders to create an extremely strong visual effect.
The taillights are designed to echo the headlights cluster and effectively extend the visual width of the tail with transverse chrome trims. In addition, the eye-catching "SEQUOIA (Sequoia)" logo can be seen at the bottom of the luggage compartment cover, which further increases the recognition of the new car.
Entering the car, the new car has the same interior layout as the new Tantu, and the 12.3-inch LCD instrument and 14-inch central control screen effectively enhance the sense of technology in the car. As can be seen from the interface of the car system, the new car will be equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features. In addition, the new car will also offer a 7-seat space layout.
In terms of smart configuration, the new generation of Sequoia will have five configuration options, namely SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro and Capstone. They are all equipped with Toyota's Safety Sense 2.5 technology kit and feature heated seats, sunroofs, a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 360-degree panoramic imaging system.
In addition, the TRD off-road kit is available in all-wheel drive versions of the SR5 and Limited, including a rear axle limited slip differential, 18-inch off-road rims and tires, a multi-terrain selection system, downhill assist control and creep control, as well as Bilstein shock absorbers and stiffer springs.
The TRD Pro version is more off-road focused, with the new car featuring FOX shock absorbers with nitrogen tanks and a 0.25-inch thick front chassis skid plate. The rear axle is equipped with differential locks, multi-terrain selection, creep control and downhill assist control. The top-of-the-line Capstone model will feature a lot of chrome trim on the exterior, with chrome-plated 22-inch rims, and side skirt electric pedals.
In terms of power, the new generation of Toyota Sequoia is equipped with the i-Force Max hybrid system composed of a 3.5T V6 engine, which can output a maximum power of 326 kW and a peak torque of 790 Nm, matching a 10-speed automatic transmission. At the same time, the new car will also be equipped with two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive system with multiple driving modes to choose from, and can drag weights up to 4082 kg.
