HB "Children's Hearts" begins a journey to find the roots of the youth culture of all ethnic groups in Australia

Sydney, March 5 (Xinhuanet) -- The HB "Children's Heart Painting Love" Australian International Youth Painting Competition Award Ceremony and Excellent Works Exhibition sponsored by New Express Media Group was held at the Sydney Chinese Cultural Center on the 2nd, and more than 100 guests, contestants and parents from local political, overseas Chinese, cultural and artistic circles, education circles gathered together to celebrate the holding of the competition and commend the outstanding performance of the winners.

The theme of this year's competition is "Love Australia, Love Motherland", which aims to encourage local youth of all ethnic groups to express their love for Australia through painting, explore and understand the culture of their ancestral country, and promote the integration and development of Australian multiculturalism.

Launched on December 3, 2018, the competition adopts the online and offline competition methods, and after two months of online collection of works and offline on-site competition activities, a total of nearly 150 entries have been received, including Chinese paintings, oil paintings, watercolors, acrylic paintings, pencil drawings, wax pen paintings, etc.

After the strict evaluation of professional judges and the voting of WeChat, 42 winners were finally selected, including young people of different ethnic groups such as Chinese, British, Indian, Iranian, Italian and other local ethnic groups.

Huang Ningning, deputy editor-in-chief of New Express Media Group, said that Australia is a diverse and multi-ethnic country, and the holding of the competition will help children understand the culture of their parents and grandparents, enhance the culture and identity of young people, and also contribute to local social harmony and multicultural integration and development.

In his speech, Mayor Of Willoughby Mayor Jardell Gidney said that the proportion of Chinese in Willoughby is very high, and cultural activities are rich and diverse, including this year's Lunar New Year Festival activities that have brought a positive role to the city's diversification. The theme of this competition made the children realize that it is meaningful not only to love Australia, but also to understand their home country, while respecting the culture of other ethnic groups.

The organizer carefully arranged the award combination of Australian overseas Chinese leaders, artist representatives and sponsor representatives to award certificates, bonuses and gifts to the winners of each category, and also awarded the "Best Organization Award" to the Chinese schools and painting classes that actively selected and sent works to participate in the competition.

The exhibition of outstanding works of the "Children's Heart Painting Love" competition will be on display at the Sydney Chinese Culture Centre until March 11.
