Hua Yujie, male, born in September 1944, a native of Xiaohuazhuang, Shuanggou Town, BoXian County, joined the army in March 1965 and served as a soldier in the bazooka squad of the 3rd Company of the 217th Regiment of the 73rd Division of the 23rd Army.
In the early morning of March 15, 1969, his unit was ordered to land on the island to eliminate the former Soviet border guards who had invaded our territory.
At 15:00 on March 15, 1969, more than 100 soviet border guards, under the cover of 10 tanks and 14 armored vehicles, launched a third fierce attack on Zhenbao Island.
After the Soviet border guards landed on the island, they divided into two echelons with some tanks, armored vehicles and infantry and carried out repeated attacks on the defensive front of the Chinese border defense detachment on the island, in an attempt to drive the Chinese border defense detachment out of Zhenbao Island with superior troops.
The Chinese Border Guard Detachment seized on the weakness of the Soviet Border Guard Army's fear of dividing infantry from tanks and armored vehicles, carried forward the glorious tradition of daring to engage in close combat, and adopted the tactics of several combat groups to surround and fight 1 tank or armored vehicle at the same time, and destroyed them individually.
During the battle on March 15, he bravely and calmly put the enemy armored vehicles within a distance of tens of meters, hitting two armored vehicles in a row. When the enemy in the car jumped out of the car and fled, he strafed with a submachine gun again.
With my ears deafened, I still braved the enemy's dense artillery fire and stubbornly fired, hitting an armored vehicle more than ten meters away from me. He used four O bazookas to hit four enemy armored vehicles in succession.
It made an important contribution to the victory of crushing the Soviet border defense base. He was awarded the title of "Combat Hero" by the Central Military Commission.
After the war, he successively served as platoon commander, deputy company commander, company commander and deputy chief of staff of the 217 regiment, and in 1978 was named a national model worker. In April 1984, he transferred to the local government as a regular employee and served as the chairman of the party committee of the Huaibei municipal government organ. In 2003, he retired honorably.
