U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday officially canceled a Trump-era project that called for the construction of a garden filled with statues of "American heroes," including a sculpture by the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Biden on Friday revoked authorization to build the building, as well as several other related orders, Politico reported. Biden was largely expected to cancel the project outright, which was initially a response to nationwide protests against racial justice.

In an executive order signed in January, Trump detailed plans to build a national garden of American heroes. The effort was part of the administration's push for conservative sentiment, when left-wing public calls for the removal of Confederate monuments and even vandalism in many places, a movement Trump described as "dangerous anti-American extremism."

Trump said in the executive order that the garden would be "America's response to this reckless attempt to erase our heroes, values and entire way of life."

"The construction of the National Garden will reflect the awesome splendor of our nation's eternal particularism," the order said. "It will be a place where citizens, young and old, can update their perception of greatness and accept the challenges I made to every American in my first address to Congress."

In addition to Jobs, the garden is planned to have a variety of statues depicting various walks of life in the United States. The list spans across the entire field, including presidents, inventors, celebrities and more. The list includes the Wright brothers, Einstein, Johnny Cash, Billy Hallede, Martin Luther King, Jr., Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Kobe Bryant and Alex Trebeck.

The project is largely back-and-forth, as no one has made a real effort so far to make Trump's idea come true.

Also stifled today is a series of orders that seek to protect cultural monuments everywhere in the wake of BLM protests, an initiative that calls for the withholding of federal funding from state and local governments that fail to protect the monuments and tasking the Justice Department with priority prosecution of those involved in such activities.
