The NYPD police regulator ruled Monday that dozens of police officers were disciplined for misconduct during the "Black Lives Matter" protests sparked after George Floyd's death.

According to Pix11, the Civilian Complaint Review Board recommended the highest level of disciplinary action against 37 officers and lighter disciplinary action on 28 officers, some of whom may be found guilty. But more than a third of the complaints CCRB could not investigate because they could not determine the identity of the officers. Many police officers did not comply with the rules during the protests, covering their names and shields.

CCRB President Fred Davie said that after fully investigating more than 100 cases, the CCRB will continue to investigate and, if necessary, prosecute police officers who misbehaved Against New Yorkers during last year's African-American "Life Is Your Life" protest. 37 police officers may be tried.

After the Afro-Americans are killed protests, people said that as a result of the actions of the New York police, some people had broken arms, broken eye sockets, concussions, nerve damage or deep lacerations on their muscles. Mayor Bill de Blasio defended police during the protests.

A spokesman for the New York City Police Department said the City Police Department has cooperated with the CCRB in its investigation and will work with the CCRB to adjudicate the cases. The NYPD will continue its efforts to make the disciplinary process transparent, the spokesman said. Like any citizen, these officers should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Police Union President Patrick Lynch slammed the CCRB report. He said the CCRB was once again whitewashing Mr. Blasio and others who had tried to clear themselves of their failures in last summer's protests. The police were sent to a dangerous environment created by the irresponsible rhetoric of politicians without a plan, a strategy, or support. As a result, dozens of police officers were injured, and now dozens more are scapegoats. It's time for the NYPD to stop allowing the CCRB to use its disciplinary procedures as a political tool!

In response to Lynch's statement, CCRB Chairman David said the CCRB is not a political tool. The CCRB is a serious, independent disciplinary body of the New York City Police Department. Asked why it took so long to investigate, David said they had a lot to investigate, including multiple reports of the same incident. He also said that in some cases, they could not identify the police because their shields were covered, or they used other police equipment, or there was a problem with the carry-on camera. However, the CCRB wants to investigate as thoroughly as possible.
