On August 31st, the poverty alleviation film "Beautiful Life" held a seminar in Beijing, and a number of experts and scholars gathered together to reproduce the moving deeds of Huang Wenxiu, a model of the times, in the form of light and shadow.
In July 2019, the Propaganda Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee began the preparation of the film "Beautiful Life", which used Huang Wenxiu, an outstanding communist party member in the country, a model of the times, a person of the year who moved China in 2019, the former deputy chief of the theory section of the Propaganda Department of the Baise Municipal Party Committee, and the first secretary of Baixiao Village in Leye County, as the prototype of the character, telling the story of her leading the villagers to overcome poverty.
The reporter learned that the director and all the crew worked hard to overcome the challenges brought by the epidemic, and the film began filming on February 22 this year, was completed in April, and completed the entire post-production in July. On August 23, the premiere of "Beautiful Life" was held in Nanning, Guangxi. Many viewers wept several times during the movie. Two days later, on August 25, the village committee square of Baixiao Village held a screening ceremony with the theme of "Sending Movies into the Village, Accompanying Wenxiu back to Baixiao", bringing "Wenxiu" back to Baixiao Village.
"After watching this movie, I was both touched and thought-provoking, and I especially hope that this film can be seen by more young people, especially the final picture, you can see that in fact, many people in the poverty alleviation team are young people, and they dedicate themselves in such a difficult environment, which is also an education for those of us who are older." After watching the film, Sun Xianghui, director of the China Film Archive and director of the China Film Art Research Center, expressed his intuitive feelings from the perspective of an ordinary audience.
"The creation of the main theme film should be said to be very difficult, because it resonates with the same frequency of the times, which poses a great challenge to the film creators, and this film I think is still a film with characteristics, novelty and touching to promote the typical heroic characters of the era." Many experts attending the meeting believed that the height of this film comes from the height of Huang Wenxiu's typical character's deeds itself on the one hand, and from the height of the times brought about by the background of the story of winning the battle against poverty and building a well-off society in an all-round way.
"In fact, poverty alleviation, sometimes we may help not only the poor, sometimes help people, but the film does not 'ugly' these people, in fact, the work of poverty alleviation is to a certain extent to change people's work, the main object of poverty alleviation is not simply to help them relocate, but to solve everyone's yearning for a better life and help them change their past destiny, so I think this is a very good exposition of the theme of poverty alleviation." Yin Hong, vice chairman of the China Filmmakers Association and professor at Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication, said.

For the issue of the choice of contemporary young people behind Huang Wenxiu, a typical figure, the experts attending the meeting also had a heated discussion. Yin Hong said that although Huang Wenxiu's story is a story of sacrifice, he believes that it is more of a story of beautiful youth. "For the new generation of young people, we may have had a variety of different understandings in the past, and the character of Huang Wenxiu is actually shaping this generation of young people and shaping their social responsibilities in the new era."
