The film was filmed and completed in July

In October last year, "Beautiful Life" was identified by the National Film Administration as one of the four key feature films with the theme of poverty alleviation this year. It is reported that in June last year, Huang Wenxiu unfortunately died; in early July, the Propaganda Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee began the preparation of the film and organized local writers in Guangxi to write scripts. At the end of July, Miao Yue, who had directed works such as "Jumei in the Sky" and "May Blossom", accepted a job as a director, and in early August, she went to Leye County to experience life, interview, and collect materials.

The film was originally scheduled to start filming in early February this year, and the crew arrived on location in Leye County during the Spring Festival. However, due to the serious national epidemic situation in early February, the crew could not start work for the time being. The entire crew self-isolated and observed in the hotel on location. On February 22, the film was officially launched. Filming is now nearing completion. As planned, the film was pre-filmed on April 22, and then entered post-production, aiming to complete all production in July.

In recent years, Miao Yue's films "Big Tinder", "Homeland", "Eighteen-Hole Village", including the current "Beautiful Life", express the theme of land or the relationship between people and land, and she has some of her own understanding of land issues. Miao Yue believes that Huang Wenxiu is a peasant child in Guangxi, who went out of the mountains through reading, and returned to the countryside after completing his studies.
