Li Yingru (November 1913 – February 6, 1989) was a native of Baoding, Hebei Province. Writer, calligrapher, and consultant of the former Bayi Film Studio. He joined the revolution in 1936, joined the Eighth Route Army in 1937, served as a reporter, editor, and regimental commander of a certain unit of the Eighth Route Army, and engaged in underground struggles for a long time. During the war years, he wrote many short stories. The most famous are "Fighting on the Tuotuo River" and "Wildfire Spring Wind Fighting Ancient City". On September 23, 2019, Li Yingru's novel "Wildfire Spring Wind Fighting Ancient City" was selected as "New China's 70 Years and 70 Novels Collection".
In 1954, his first novel, "Fighting on the Tuotuo River", came out and was hailed as one of the excellent novels in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Later, he created a long novel "Wildfire Spring Wind Fighting Ancient City", which was translated into more than ten languages such as English, Japanese, Russian, German, Korean, and Bao and sent overseas, and was filmed by bayi Film Studio in 1963.
