Wildfireball in its original form Is a perennial herb, 30–60 cm tall. There are soft hairs. The roots are spindle-shaped, parased, stout, reddish-brown. The stem is erect, slightly quadrangular and branched. Palmate compound leaves, alternate; small leaves 5, lanceolate or narrow oval leaves, 2–4 cm long, 0.5–1.2 cm wide, pointed apex, finely serrated edges, two masks with distinct veins, slightly hairy, sessile; leaf membranous sheath, stem-hugging, veined. Cephalic inflorescences are glutinous or apical, the peduncle is short, the flower spherical, mostly, reddish to reddish-purple; calyx-shaped, narrow lanceolate, 2 times longer than the sepals, with soft hairs; flag petals oval, slightly narrower at the base, blunt or rounded at the apex, long at the apex, oblong in the heels, with ears and claws at the base, slightly wider at the apex, keel petals shorter than wing petals, with short ears and claws, often with a small protrusion at the apex; ovary oval, pedunculate, curved upper part, small stigma, head-shaped, stalk. The pods are oblong, swollen, glabrous, gray-brown, with short stalks. The seeds are nearly round and gray-green. The flowering and fruiting period is from June to October.

Habitat division ecological environment: grows in hillside wetlands, beach edges, forest edges, meadow grasslands, and shrublands.

Resource distribution: distributed in northeast China and Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi and other places.

Trait identification The whole grass is 30-60 cm long. The roots are multi-branched. The stem is slightly quadrangular, with fine longitudinal lines on the surface, brittle and easy to break. Palmar compound leaves; leaf membranous, sheath-like holding stems. Leaflets 5, more wrinkled, curly, flattened intact lanceolate or narrow oval, 2.5–4 cm long and 0.5–1.2 cm wide, with fine serrations at the edges, raised lateral veins on both sides, sparse soft hairs in the lower midrib, nearly sessile. Sometimes dark reddish-purple head-like inflorescences and linear oblong pods may be seen. The air is slight and the taste is light.

Dosage for internal use: decoction, 9-15g; or dipped in wine. External use: appropriate amount, decoction and washing; or fresh products to take the juice compress.
