Can an electric car "idling" in the cold for 14 hours? A recent snowstorm on I-95 in Virginia gave the answer to that question.

A major snowstorm left 14 hours on I-95 in Virginia. These include several electric cars.

This is how Tesla Model 3 driver and former senior EPA official Dan Kanninen described the incident:

"When the road nightmare finally ended, ICE drivers lined up at overcrowded gas stations, and my electric car navigation system directed me to the nearest open charging station — which was installed every 10 miles along the highway. Despite the extreme conditions of my electric car that day, I was able to charge it and had a range of 50 miles (80 kilometers). ”
