IT House news on January 25, it looks like the price of GPUs of Nvidia and AMD has finally dropped. Tom's Hardware in the United States and 3DCenter.org in Germany have counted eBay and local graphics retail prices, respectively, and they have seen the same situation: the prices of almost all new graphics cards produced by Nvidia and AMD are falling sharply.

Looking to buy the NVIDIA RTX 3080? Just two months ago, it could have cost $1,773, more than 2.5 times the manufacturer's suggested retail price, which is typical of the hottest graphics cards, while Tom's Hardware survey found prices were higher in December, but in January, those prices fell 11 percent to an average of less than $1,600.
The RTX 3080 isn't alone: most of the other RTX 3000 Series and AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards have seen prices drop by around 5 to 10 percent, with the RX 6900 XT being the only exception, which has gone up in price.
Tom's Hardware survey also revealed a significant drop in graphics card sales on eBay, with some cards barely trading, such as the Radeon RX 6800, which sold only nine in a week. The price drop may be due to some people giving up and being reluctant to pay scalper fees.
In addition, this may also be related to the recent plunge in cryptocurrencies, when miners tend to sell large numbers of graphics cards. This batch of eBay data is from last week, so it does not include the full impact of cryptocurrencies.
But 3DCenter.org shows that the decline has occurred not only in GPUs sold on the secondary market, but also in German retailers.
According to this chart, Nvidia and AMD's GPU prices have dropped to 177% and 167% of the manufacturer's suggested retail price, respectively, compared with 187% and 183% in mid-December last year, and as high as 318% and 216% at their peak in May last year.

While there are no significant indications that supply has caught up with demand (these GPUs are still hard to buy in addition to being expensive), Nvidia and AMD have repeatedly claimed that they expect supply to improve in the second half of 2022.
IT Home learned that in terms of game consoles, the eBay used price of PS5 and Xbox Series X is also declining, The Verge has counted the eBay data for the past three months, and sony and Microsoft's flagship game consoles have both dropped by $100, from the average price of $800 to about $700.
