Italian Masters Exhibition Schedule
As an event of the "Zhou Zhou You Film Festival", in October 2021, the Shanghai Art Film Alliance continued to bring two film festivals at home and abroad: one was the "Centenary Theme Film Festival of the Founding of the Communist Party", and the other was the "Italian Film Masters Exhibition" held from October 23 to November 7. The "Italian Film Masters Exhibition" will continue the first season of the Italian Film Masters Exhibition in October 2020 and continue to present the works of many masters to the audience: not only to introduce the Italian film masters Vittorio DeSica, Bernaldo Bertolucci, Pierre Pasolini, etc., which were previously known to the audience, but also to introduce the works of different types of film masters, such as the works of Italian lead and yellow film master Dario Aquido, enriching the big screen experience of Shanghai audiences.

The "Italian Film Masters Exhibition" will present five classics by film master Pierre Paolo Pasolini: "Roma Mama", starring the Italian "goddess of the hot screen" Anna Maniani and winning the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival New Film Award; Pasolini's documentary "The Secret Encyclopêdia", which travels the streets of major Italian cities and interviews men, women and children; Pasolini joins hands with Italian comedy show Titan Toto and Italian music master Morricone to dedicate the social allegorical comedy "Big Bird and Little Bird" Adapted from the play of the same name by Sophocles, one of the three great tragedies of ancient Greece, "King Oedipus"; adapted from the play of the same name by Euripides, one of the three great tragic writers of ancient Greece, the only feature film "Medea" starring the opera queen Callas.

Giallo Film is a type of thriller, and the word "Giallo" means "yellow" in Italian, because the thriller and mystery novels popular in Italy in the 1940s and 1950s were often covered with yellow skin. At the festival, audiences can enjoy two classic lead-yellow films by film master Dario Aquido: the iconic lead-yellow film "The Wind Of Shadows", which wins with a gorgeous Baroque visual style; and "Myths", another masterpiece of actor Jennifer Connery's girls' generation, which tells the story of a young girl who fights against murderous criminals with magical powers.

The festival also includes the neorealist finale of film master Vittorio D'Escica, "Tears of the Wind", which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay, and "Eve of the Revolution", written and directed by film master Bernardo Bertolucci, scored by Morricone and nominated for the Italian Silver Ribbon Award for Best Actress.

Film Masters Exhibition is one of the most attractive screening brands of the Shanghai Art Film Alliance, and has previously held many screenings such as Kubrick Retrospective, Polanski Retrospective, Herzog Retrospective, Japanese Film Masters Exhibition, French Film Masters Exhibition, Russian Film Masters Exhibition and so on. It is worth mentioning that the films screened in this master exhibition are all digital restoration versions, and three of them are 4K restoration copies, which meet the high-specification needs of fans for big screen viewing. Seven films in this master exhibition have specially produced Chinese with embedded subtitles, which makes the audience feel more engaged when watching the film.
