My favorite is a lady (the world in nursery rhymes)

author:Ci Classmates Reading Club

I used to see an interesting English song (rythm) in Gutenberg, but I couldn't find it anymore. A new way to find, more powerful, has finally been found. The poems are not famous, but they are all interesting. It is usually from the child's point of view to write about their own world. I like it myself, try to translate it to everyone, and hope to read it with my children. This is followed by a little insight that may help to better understand these poems.

My favorite is a lady (the world in nursery rhymes)

MY DEAREST IS A LADY

My dearest is a lady, and she wears a gown of blue;

She sits beside the window, where the yellow sun comes through;

The light is shining on her hair, and all the while she sews

She sings a song about a knight—a brave, good knight she knows.

My dearest is a lady,—and O, I love her well!

Full five and twenty times a day this very tale I tell;

For I’m the knight in armor—a shield and sword I wear;

And mother is my lady, with the light upon her hair.

My favorite is a lady who wears a long blue dress;

She sat near the window, where there was warm sunlight shining in;

The sun was shining in her hair, and she kept sewing her clothes;!

She sang a song of praise for a knight—a brave, kind knight, as far as she knew.

My favorite is a lady – oh, I love her so much!

The story I want to tell, twenty-five times a day;

For I am a knight in armor—and my shield and sword;

My mother was my lady, and the light shone in her hair.

In medieval Europe, the knight wanted to show love to a lady, swore allegiance to him, was willing to fight for her, and earned her more honors. We know these legends of knighthood, probably from the earliest don Quixote. Knight legends are like our martial arts novels or chivalrous novels, although they seem to be not on the table of elegant literature, knights are very popular, and perhaps priests will not like it. At that time, Don Quixote was fascinated by reading knight novels, and there were knight novels for the priest to choose and burn him.

Chivalry, on the other hand, is a good thing, encouraging young people to protect the weak, especially women, bravely and kindly. The mother in this short poem also wants her son to have this chivalry. The son also turned his mother's expectations into his imagination, and he imagined that the mother was his own lady. This imaginary love is pure and interesting, and it has no putrid smell of a Taoist. The poem places special emphasis on the sun shining on her hair, making the mother feel as if she had become a goddess. That's what it means.

The illustration is a good expression of this meaning, the horse is a wooden horse ridden by a child. But the child's world is belivein, and he may laugh at himself when he is older, but the love for his mother when he was a child is really pure and beautiful.
