On the turn of the millennium in 1999, under the grand fireworks was a sin shrouded in darkness. Businessman Xu Yi (played by Liu Junxiao) died tragically under the knife, the informant, Xu Yi's wife Nanya (played by Tong Yao) admitted that she killed her husband by mistake, and the only eyewitness at the scene of the crime, Zhou Luo (played by Zhang Xincheng), did not know where to go for an hour and a half, but the criminal policeman Lin Fanglu (played by Ye Zuxin) was suspicious.
Nanya is the most beautiful woman in Qingshui Town, but in a closed-minded town, her maverick personality and envious beauty have made her bear a lot of rumors and prejudices, and some people even bluntly said: "This woman has a very bad reputation." But what people didn't expect was that judging from a photo of Nanya covered in bruises, the sensational "murder" case in the town seemed to be inextricably linked to her injuries.
Zhou Luo was the top student in the county college entrance examination, and from Zhou Luo's eyes when he looked at Nanya, as well as the smile he bloomed when he saw Nanya's beauty, it was revealed that Zhou Luo seemed to be firmly attracted to Nanya. However, as the only witness to the "murder case", Zhou Luo looked flustered during the police interrogation and seemed to hide something about the case.
And from the sentence of the criminal policeman Lin Fanglu, "I don't want to put Nanya in front of Zhou Luo, I want to arrest Zhou Luo in front of Nanya", it can be seen that the secret hidden between Nanya and Zhou Luo seems to be the key to solving the case.
The relationship between the characters in the whole play is confusing

Nanya and Chen Ling (played by Huang Lu) had a friendship that accompanied each other when they were young, but now Chen Ling is coldly watching Nanya being abused and does not hide her hatred, why do these former best friends turn against each other? Nan Ya, Chen Ling and Xu Yi even presented a tense triangular relationship, facing each other sharply, pushing the confrontation atmosphere to a climax.
Lin Fanglu and Lao Chen (played by Tian Xiaojie), two criminal policemen, fell into contemplation in the face of the complex interpersonal network of the people involved. The emotional relationship between the characters is entangled and involved, reflecting the complex ecology of the whole town and even the society. How many secrets are hidden behind this "murder" case on Chinese New Year's Eve of the millennium makes people look forward to it.

Although the core issue of the whole series is the truth about Xu Yi's killing, the deeper exploration is about the misunderstood women. "The story is set in a relatively isolated town in the year 2000, which is a complete acquaintance society, showing the harm of rumors in the acquaintance society to a woman, and the self-redemption of a woman."
The play is based on Nanya's experience of confrontation with an unfair fate, and through the heavy traditional shackles imposed on the women of the town, it illuminates the prejudice of reality, and also unveils the fig leaf of the victim's guilt. At the same time, on the basis of focusing on the plight of women, the series gives strength to this heavy story and warmth to the tragic little people. Tong Yao described Zhou Luo as like the sun in the cracks, illuminating Nanya's dark life; Zhang Xincheng thanked Nanya for igniting the fire in Zhou Luo's heart and allowing him to regain his ideals and beliefs.
