The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a message on January 21 local time that Norway has invited the delegation of the Afghan Taliban Provisional Government to visit Oslo from January 23 to 25, but stressed that this is not equivalent to recognizing the legitimate regime of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency reported on January 25, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry issued a notice on the same day quoting Norwegian Foreign Minister Anneken Whitfeldt as saying, "We are extremely worried about the grim situation in Afghanistan, which is a comprehensive humanitarian disaster involving millions of people." To help Afghan civilians, the international community and Afghans from all walks of life, dialogue should be held with the Atta Interim Government. ”

The country's Foreign Ministry announced that the Atta delegation will meet with representatives of Norway and its allies in Oslo, as well as with Afghans with experience in human rights, economic, social and political affairs.

"This is not the same as recognizing the Taliban regime," Whitfeldt noted. But we should speak to those in de facto power and not allow the political situation to bring greater humanitarian disaster to Afghanistan. ”

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it was continuing its dialogue with Atta to support the country's human rights and women's right to participate in the life of society and to consolidate humanitarian and economic efforts in Afghanistan. Earlier this week, the Delegation of the Norwegian Embassy in Afghanistan visited Kabul to discuss the unstable humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
