Rain, snow and ice mixed with cold weather have caused chaotic commuting in the New York area

Rain was accompanied by cold temperatures, making the roads muddy and smooth, making the morning commute in and around New York City chaotic on Thursday (January 20).

According to abc7NY, cold weather mixed with rain, snow and ice poses a danger to motorists, and this poor driving condition can last until night.

Road conditions in parts of Long Island are very dangerous.

Nassau County Sheriff Bruce Blakeman said they were clearing roads and residents were taking safety precautions.

On wednesday (January 19) evening, it began to rain in and around New York City and continued to rain all night.

Around 4 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 20), it didn't stop raining on the eastern side of Route 3 in Clifton, Passaic County, New Jersey.

Subsequently, the rain gradually turned into light snow, and a mixture of ice and mud formed on the road.

Dozens of school districts in Bergen County, New Jersey, have postponed school hours.

New York City issued a winter weather warning that lasts until 1 p.m. on Thursday (January 20).
