On the occasion of the 2022 Chinese New Year Festival, Guangzhou Garden Hotel and Guangdong Provincial Museum jointly launched a limited edition "Spring Jubilee" rice cake gift box. On the afternoon of January 20th, the joint gift box and cultural relics sharing meeting of "Flowers Blooming in the Garden, Birds Offering Rui" and the cultural relics sharing meeting of the collection were held in the 360° circular exhibition hall of the Garden Hotel.
It is reported that this is the first time that Yuebo and Garden Hotel have joined hands to launch a special edition of exquisite limited gift boxes.

The exterior of the "Spring Jubilee Gift Box" is based on an atmospheric red color and painted with a Chinese pattern. The pattern elements originate from the treasures collected by the Guangdong Provincial Museum - the Qing Dynasty "Beige Silk Ground Row Gold Embroidered Flower Hundred Birds Diagram" (hereinafter referred to as the "Hundred Birds Diagram"). The box uses the design concept of "layer height", opens the box three layers and progresses, implying vigorous vitality and step by step. The gift box contains pastries such as coconut rice cake, horseshoe cake, radish cake and other pastries and wax flavors.
"This gift box contains both historical and auspicious meanings. We hope that the friends who get it can have family harmony, friends gathering and happy career in the new year, and at the same time, they can also feel the charm of Guangxiu and the new glory of Lingnan history and culture at close range. According to reports, "Hundred Birds Map" is one of the representative export artworks in the collection of the Guangdong Provincial Museum, which is a Qing Dynasty golden silk flower hundred birds embroidery, composed of finely embroidered birds and finches and flowers.
As one of the "four famous embroideries", Guangdong embroidery has an important position in the history of Lingnan culture and export products. At the sharing meeting, Bai Fang, an export art expert at the Guangdong Provincial Museum, interpreted the "Hundred Birds Map" for the guests present, and shared the development and changes of Guangdong embroidery as an important export product and intangible cultural heritage.
Bai Fang introduced that this "Hundred Birds Diagram" uses two important techniques in Cantonese embroidery: one is nailed gold embroidery, that is, a large area is paved with gold silk thread; the other is the use of colored silk wool embroidery, the opening is slender, colorful, and the embroidered flowers and birds are particularly exquisite.
"The Hundred Birds Diagram embodies the main interpersonal relationships of the ancient mainland through the 'Five Lun Diagrams'. The ancient saying that 'father and son have relatives, kings and subjects have righteousness, husband and wife are different, elders and children are orderly, friends have faith', posterity painted flowers and birds, and 'phoenix, white crane, mandarin duck, partridge, yellow warbler' represented 'monarch, father and son, husband and wife, elder and young, friends'. "Bai Fang's interpretation," There are also exquisite flowers around various rare birds in this work, supplemented by scattered flowers with loose branches, and there are yellow warblers, butterflies, praying mantises and other dynamic pictures, which epitomize the simple, warm, harmonious and beautiful meaning of Lingnan culture. ”
Chen Shaofeng, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Museum, pointed out at the sharing meeting that at present, cultural creation, especially museum-related cultural creation, should actually reflect the "deconstruction" and "reorganization" of cultural relics in the design, and through the polishing of the process, make it both have the historical charm of cultural relics and can meet the aesthetics of modernity: "For example, the birds, flowers and other ornaments on the packaging of this joint rice cake gift box are actually adjusted and integrated according to the shape and composition of the gift box, which is a process of extraction and re-creation from the original ornaments of cultural relics. ”
At the same time, Chen Shaofeng believes that the cultural creation of cultural institutions such as museums should make a better balance between cultural dissemination and commercial promotion: "Under the premise of meeting aesthetic needs, cultural creation should seek a balance between commodity and craftsmanship, and be close to the lives of the people in Lingnan, so as to achieve the spread of commodity level and culture level through cultural creation." From the perspective of museum exhibitions, how to make the cultural connotation of the exhibition "sustainable" through cultural creation is also a problem worth thinking about.
According to the organizers of the event, at present, the permanent and temporary exhibition halls on the 4th floor of the Garden Hotel have been completed and are built in accordance with museum standards. The Garden Hotel is also introducing traditional artworks such as Cantonese embroidery and temari, and will gradually open exhibitions in the future to establish more links with museums.
