At the beginning of the 20th century, rural women in the Sanshui area of Guangdong Province crossed the sea to work on construction sites in Singapore, and they were called "red turbans" by locals because they used red turbans as tooling. They have self-respect, self-love, self-reliance, self-improvement, patriotism and love for the family, they are resolute and stoic, tenacious and hardworking, not afraid of suffering, overcome suffering and transcend suffering, they are infiltrated with the most simple truth, goodness and beauty. In such a group of women, we see the nourishment of Chinese culture, see the beauty of noble and calm personality, and their stories have also become a display and recognition of the Chinese spirit in the world.
In order to show the style of women in the new era, Guangdong Cantonese Theatre and Southern Metropolis Newspaper of Southern Press Media Group jointly launched the "Looking for the 'Red Turban' of the New Era" activity to find representatives of the "Red Turban" in the Greater Bay Area and pay tribute to them.
Today, when there are fewer and fewer people in Cantonese embroidery, Liang Xiaoman, as a post-90s generation, has chosen to stick to this industry, endure loneliness and boredom, and devote himself to the inheritance and innovation of traditional Cantonese embroidery.
Guang embroidery can be made of jewelry, can be made of furniture, and can even be done with anime... In the hands of Liang Xiaoman after the 90s, traditional Cantonese embroidery can play a variety of tricks. The extensive embroidery of landscape paintings into screens is also her innovative work.
As a young generation of Guangxiu, her love for Guangxiu is not only to inherit the stitching skills of Guangxiu, but also to carry forward Guangxiu and let more young people of her age fall in love with Guangxiu from the bottom of their hearts.

Others find it boring, she finds it fun
In 1993, Liang Xiaoman was born in a Guangdong embroidery family in Beiting Village, Panyu, and from 1838 in the Qing Dynasty, the family began to engage in Guangdong embroidery, and by xiaoman's generation, it was already the sixth generation.
"When I was 5 or 6 years old, I began to formally learn canton embroidery, and when I was a child, my mother sat in front of the embroidery stand all day, and I was curious, so I often sat across from my mother and watched what she was doing." The mother saw that Xiao Man was also interested in Guangdong embroidery, so she began to guide her daughter to learn step by step from threading needles and dividing threads. By the time he was a teenager, Xiao Man could already embroider a work independently.
What really put Xiaoman on the road of Guangxiu was a bold idea in high school. The traditional embroidery theme made her feel boring, and she liked anime, so she proposed to her mother the idea of embroidering a work with anime as the theme, which was strongly supported by her mother. In the three years before and after, Xiao man completed the Guangdong embroidery work "Anime Angel" under the guidance of his mother. After completing this work, Xiaoman's original cognition and feelings about Guangxiu were subverted, and her determination to go to Guangxiu was more determined, "It turns out that Guangxiu can be so beautiful, and you can also embroider anything I like, the subject matter I like." ”
Therefore, when he was in college, Xiao man chose to major in environmental art design, "I hope to bring Guangdong embroidery into more fields, make more innovative works, and make Guangdong embroidery have more possibilities." ”
Speaking of his daughter, Liang Xiaoman's father, Liang Yunhong, said: "Young people now, it is difficult for them to sink down and sit down. To do our traditional handicraft industry, the first thing is to be able to calm down, to endure loneliness, and to sit down to embroider for seven or eight hours. But Xiao man has been influenced by our family since he was a child and can withstand loneliness. ”
Now Xiaoman basically sits in front of the embroidery rack for 8 hours every day, "because I like to embroider widely, so I don't feel bored." The standard I give myself is generally more than 8 hours of embroidery a day, if there is some particularly urgent order, or some special work that I want to complete, I basically embroider from 10 am to 12 pm. ”

Inherit and innovate Guangdong embroidery, and integrate Guangdong embroidery into home jewelry
When she was a child, she was a little girl sitting across from his mother watching embroidery, and now she is the guangdong embroidery heir who sits on the edge of the embroidery rack.
Panyu District has established a national, provincial, municipal and district four-level intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance system. The district has 3 national-level directories, 12 provincial-level directories, 18 municipal-level directories and 39 district-level directories. In terms of representative inheritors, there are 1 national level, 8 provincial level, 22 city level and 51 district level.
As a guangdong embroidery descendant in Panyu District, Liang Xiaoman has always been committed to the innovation of Guangxiu, "I combined my environmental art design major to integrate Guangdong embroidery into the home. For example, I made some screens, background walls, and soft decorations. I also made some wide embroidery jewelry, like Wide Embroidery earrings, hair bands and some Wide Embroidery necklaces, which are more suitable for young people, they can directly wear Cantonese embroidery jewelry in their daily wear, and better promote our Cantonese embroidery. ”
In addition, in order to better publicize Guangdong embroidery, Liang Xiaoman also opened many Guangdong embroidery training classes, from kindergartens, primary and secondary schools to universities, "in the primary and secondary school stage, to cultivate interests, the university is combined with the students' profession, the Guangdong embroidery integration, hope that through the promotion of Guangxiu, let the Guangxiu industry carry forward and become one of the employment directions of young people." ”
When asked what the "red turban" of the new era should be, Liang Xiaoman said: "The first is self-reliance and self-improvement, to find what you like, and to develop with this as the goal, and to face life with an optimistic and beautiful attitude." ”
