Today, a meat friend asked Elder Tang: Are the succulent pig nose and the magic flute the same breed? If not, what is the difference between them?
Succulent pig noseSucculent Pig Nose Introduction:
Pig nose is a succulent plant of the genus Sedumaceae, its leaves are thick, the leaves are strange, some are cylindrical, some are shovel-shaped, the front end is sharply pointed, there are short leaf tips, the plant type is loose lotus shape, the whole plant is covered with a thick layer of white frost, the usual leaf color is blue-green, and the leaves will turn pink in an environment with sufficient light and large temperature difference, which is very characteristic.
It does look a lot like a pig's nose
Are Pig Nose and Magic Flute the same breed?
Many meat lovers think that pig nose and magic flute are the same kind of succulent, after all, their leaf shape is also very similar, but in fact they may not be the same succulent breed. According to anecdotal rumors, pig nose is a mutant variety of Pi's bluestone, so it is also called tubular-leaf bluestone lily or tubular-leaf piscene. As for the Magic Flute, it is also called pink trumpet, which is rumored to be a variant of Pinky (Pink Angel). If these claims are true, then the pig nose and the magic flute are naturally two succulents with similar shapes but completely different origins.

What is the difference between a pig's nose and a magic flute?
Since the pig's nose and the flute may not be the same succulent breed, there must be a difference between them, and according to my observation, they have at least 3 different places:
One. Leaf thickness and leaf shape are different. The pig's nose is born from the Bluestone Lotus, so the leaves are relatively thicker, and the front end of the shovel-shaped blade is relatively smooth, and there are few wavy folds. Because the magic flute is a variant of Pink Angel, the leaves are relatively thinner, and whether it is a barrel blade or a shovel-shaped blade, there are slight wavy folds at the front end.

The shape of the blades of the Magic Flute also fits its origin, after all, Pink Angel is a hybrid of Gwanghan Palace and Savina (Savina herself is a succulent with wrinkled leaves). Pink Angels know that its leaves are sometimes flat and sometimes have a small number of folds. The magic flute like the picture below is particularly like Pinky (Pink Angel), which is very different from the pig's nose.
Pinky's magic flute in a pronounced state
Two. The color of the leaves is different: the leaf color of the pig's nose growth period is particularly like the blue stone lotus, which is the color of the blue wattle blue, and because of the thick white frost on the leaf surface, it is not particularly easy to color, and the color is not very red after the state. The leaves of the magic flute are grayish blue in color during the growth period, which is relatively easier to color, and its leaves will become pink or bright red after coming out of the state, which is much more beautiful than the pig's nose.
Out of the state color is particularly red magic flute
Three. The details of the leaves are different: the leaves of the pig's nose can see a lot of small white dots (non-surface, inside the leaves), and if the surface white frost is wiped off, it will be more obvious, and this phenomenon is also found in the skin of the blue stone lotus. This is not the case with the Magic Flute and Pinky (Pink Angel), and even if we wipe off the white frost on their leaf surfaces, it is the same hue inside. From the above 3 different points, I also tend to believe that pig nose and magic flute are two different succulents (if you have different views, please feel free to discuss them in the comments section).

Precautions for pig nose and magic flute maintenance:
The biggest attraction of pig nose and magic flute is their barrel leaves, and we must give them sufficient light when maintaining, even if the summer is only to reduce the time of direct sunlight, must not be placed in a low-light environment for a long time, or excessive shade in the summer, which will make them return to the ancestor phenomenon (leaves return to normal), then lose ornamentality.
The leaf margin folds are pronounced
