Newcastle is ready to quote Zapata again for £33m; Gössens' talks have been terminated

The Corriere della Sera Bergamo bureau today reported on the latest developments in Newcastle's bid for Atalanta striker Zapata, who is ready to make a second official offer after the first offer was rejected, in addition to the transfer negotiations between the two clubs about Gossens have been terminated, and the Magpies are currently focused on signing Zapata.

Previously, Newcastle's offer for Zapata was: £5 million on loan + £18 million in mandatory buyout (relegation triggered), and Atalanta refused for two main reasons: first, True Blue and Black wanted to get a transfer fee of €40 million, that is, £33 million; secondly, Atalanta could only accept unconditional mandatory buyout terms and was not linked to Newcastle relegation.

In terms of personal treatment, the local media had revealed three days ago that Newcastle had offered Zapata an annual salary of 6 million euros after tax, signing for three and a half years, along with a large signing fee. (Annual salary has tripled from current)

Now Newcastle will soon issue a second official offer for Zapata, which is expected to be a mandatory buyout of £5 million + £28m, which will also reach the 40 million euros required by Atlanta. In addition, it was mentioned that Newcastle's alternative is Stuttgart striker Karadzic, who is worth around 20 million euros.

While Newcastle is getting closer to signing Zapata, negotiations between the two clubs about Gossens have stopped, with Newcastle currently focused on signing the Colombian striker, while Atalanta don't want to let Gosons go for now, provided that Hartpol has asked for a transfer.
