Yunnan: The clothing fee for physical education teachers is not less than 1500 yuan per year

Kunming, 19 Jan (Xinhua) -- In Yunnan, physical education teachers who often brave the wind and the sun and lead students to exercise outdoors will receive a special fund of not less than 1,500 yuan per year for the purchase of work clothes.

Recently, the General Office of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the General Office of the Provincial Government issued the Action Plan on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving School Sports Work in the New Era (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), which proposes that compulsory education schools in Yunnan Province will implement the work clothing fund for physical education teachers in accordance with the standard of not less than 1500 yuan per school year, and other education stage schools will refer to the implementation.

"Unlike the working environment for teachers of other subjects, most of the courses for physical education teachers are outdoors." Wang Zongping, dean of the School of Physical Education of Yunnan University, said that the annual work clothing fund of not less than 1500 yuan per person can allow physical education teachers to buy more sportswear and sports shoes, which will help improve the professional honor of physical education teachers.

In addition to the distribution of work clothing funds to physical education teachers, the plan introduced by Yunnan Province this time also proposes to effectively protect the rights and interests of physical education teachers, and to include physical education teachers in the workload of recess exercises, after-school training, and extracurricular activities arranged by the school; all regions and schools should improve the distribution method and assessment and evaluation mechanism for physical education teachers' performance, encourage physical education teachers to serve as class teachers, and calculate the amount of physical education class hours with other subjects.

The plan also proposes that Yunnan Province will promote physical education teachers to enjoy the same treatment as teachers of other disciplines in terms of professional title (position) evaluation, welfare benefits, and evaluation of excellence.

In addition, Yunnan Province will also be equipped with strong physical education teachers through open recruitment, job rotation, counterpart support for teaching, and purchase of social services; encourage schools to hire outstanding coaches and retired athletes as full-time (part-time) physical education teachers; and will regularly hold basic skills competitions for physical education teachers and physical education students in primary and secondary schools to improve the teaching and scientific research capabilities of physical education teachers.
