On January 12, the official website of the Chinese Institute of Electronics released the "2021 China Institute of Electronics Science and Technology Award Announcement", and the "Key Technology and Application of Software-Defined Cryptographic Chip" jointly completed by Muchuang Integrated Circuit and Tsinghua University won the first prize for technological invention. Cryptographic chip is the material carrier of cryptographic algorithm and protocol implementation, and is the core foundation of cryptography technology and application. However, the three core technical indicators of cryptographic chips physical security, energy efficiency (that is, speed and power consumption ratio) and flexibility (including programmability) restrict each other, and the improvement of one indicator is often at the expense of the other two indicators, how to take into account them has always been recognized by the international academic and industrial circles.
In view of this problem, Muchuang Integrated Circuit and Tsinghua University have made technological breakthroughs and method innovations in the hardware architecture of cryptographic chips, compilation technology and active defense mechanism of physical attacks.
At the appraisal meeting of the project results, the appraisal committee composed of academicians and authoritative experts in the industry believed that the overall technology of the project had reached the international advanced level, and a number of key technologies had reached the international leading level, which had played an important role in solving the technical problems restricting the development of the mainland cryptographic chip.
In this field, Muchuang Integrated Circuit has applied for 19 national invention patents, authorized 6 software copyrights, 7 integrated circuit layout designs, and promoted the application and landing of project results in nearly 30 cryptography security enterprises, resulting in significant social and economic benefits.
As a high-tech enterprise incubated by Tsinghua University, the core team of Muchuang Integrated Circuit is mainly from Tsinghua University and Wuxi Institute of Applied Technology of Tsinghua University. During their study and work at Tsinghua, the core members of the company completed the technical main work of the project and won the China Patent Gold Award in 2015; after the establishment of the company, they continued to promote the industrialization of the project.
