Biden signed a national security memorandum to improve U.S. national cybersecurity

According to capitol Hill, US President Joe Biden signed a national security memorandum on January 19 local time, setting new cybersecurity requirements for the more sensitive national security systems of the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies and other federal agencies.

The memorandum asks these agencies to prioritize the adoption of resources that use cloud technologies. It also instructed agencies to implement multi-layer authentication and encryption for most national security systems within 180 days of signing. It also requires these agencies to report suspected breaches of the national security system to the NSA and requires the NSA to develop plans to report such alleged breaches in coordination with the director of national intelligence and the CIA.
