The Yuanmingyuan is a royal garden established by the Qing Dynasty, which is magnificent and placed many precious treasures. Unfortunately, the Qing government failed to protect this place, and later because of its decay and incompetence, it was invaded by Western powers. In 1860, the British and French allies broke into the Yuanmingyuan without scruples, burning and looting inside.
Before leaving, in order to teach the Qing government a more profound lesson, a fire was directly set in the Yuanmingyuan and burned this world-famous royal garden into ruins. In the decades that followed, the Qing government was always worried about internal and external troubles, and did not have the ability and financial resources to rebuild the Yuanmingyuan. After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, the Qing government completely lost the hearts of the people and was forced to announce the news of abdication, ending the feudal history of the mainland.
In 1949, New China was formally established and had a place in the international community. At that time, the whole country almost collapsed due to continuous wars, and the whole land of China was in mourning, and there were poor people everywhere. In order to let the people live a good life as soon as possible, the state has implemented many policies that benefit the country and the people. Especially after the reform and opening up, the economy of the whole country took off rapidly, and every year it could develop to a new height, when China's economic development rate ranked among the best in the world and attracted the attention of many Western developed countries.
In 1996, because of the continuous improvement of the mainland's economic level, it had enough money to protect cultural relics. The great project of restoring the Yuanmingyuan was also proposed. More than 100 years after the destruction of the Yuanmingyuan, many things have been lost, and it is almost impossible to completely rebuild the Yuanmingyuan. Coupled with the fire that the British and French coalition forces set off that year, almost destroyed the entire Yuanmingyuan, experts basically held the attitude of a dead horse as a living horse doctor when carrying out the restoration work, and did not have the luxury of excavating some precious cultural relics from it. As a result, as the work continued, experts found some serendipity in the ruins of the Yuanmingyuan.
In addition to what had been snatched away by the Anglo-French forces, some artifacts survived in the remains of the Yuanmingyuan. Because the restoration work of experts gradually reappeared, someone had previously dug up a beast's head in the ruins of the Yuanmingyuan, but it was not a zodiac sign. This thing is a lifelike elephant head, which experts have named "gilded bronze statue head".
