Tesla has only supported its own infotainment system and refused access to Apple's CarPlay. And so far, Tesla's own system has not even supported Apple Music, which makes Tesla owners who use iPhones feel very inconvenient.
As a result, getting Tesla to support CarPlay has become the dream of many car owners. As a developer, Gapiński decided to find a solution on her own instead of waiting. He released a video and several photos showing CarPlay running on a 15-inch screen inside the Model 3. The developer said the wheel on the steering wheel could be used to control Apple Music.
In order to run CarPlay on the center control screen in the car, he used the Raspberry Pi equipped with a customized version of the Android system. But he pointed out that the solution is not perfect, and when operating CarPlay, Gapiński cannot use the touch screen in the car, but needs to be controlled by the mouse. Gapiński says his next task is to improve the stability of wi-Fi connections. He also said he plans to publicly share the method that successfully got Tesla vehicles running CarPlay "after the improvements are complete."
