In the last year of the Western Han Dynasty, Wang Mang usurped the throne and killed the Han Ping Emperor. The empress of the Hanping Emperor was the daughter of Wang Mang, who gave birth to a son, Liu Xiu, who had to kill Liu Xiu in order to cut the grass and remove the roots.
At a critical moment, a loyal minister cleverly dropped the bag plan, used his wife's newly born daughter to replace Liu Xiu in his infancy, kept it a secret to the outside world, said that it was his son, and later did not know how wang Mang knew, ordered an investigation, saw that it could not be hidden, and asked Liu Xiu to escape from the capital Chang'an overnight.
At that time, Liu Xiu was already a teenager, he buried his name, suffered from wind and frost, starved and cold, and absconded to the Nanyang area of Henan, seeking talents and talents, accumulating strength, and rebelling against Wang Mang.
In the battle of BaiheTan, the initial battle was unfavorable, the men and horses were scattered, Liu Xiu fled alone to funiu Mountain in the northwest direction of Nanyang, and Wang Mang and his troops chased closely behind.
On this day, Liu Xiu ran to the bottom of a barren mountain, it was the middle of summer in June, the red sun was like a fire, coupled with the long drought and no rain, Liu Xiu was hungry and thirsty, collapsed under a steep stone wall, so hot that Liu Xiu opened his mouth and gasped for breath, Liu Xiu thought to himself, Could it be that I am going to die here today?
I couldn't help but say to myself, "Mountain, you tilt your head and turn around, give me a shade, let me escape a life!"
As soon as the words fell, the mountain peak really turned to Liu Xiu, and a shade just covered Liu Xiu, and Liu Xiu survived.
Liu Xiu gasped for a moment, his mouth thirsty and hungry.
At this time, an old woman came from the village called "Laigou" at the foot of the mountain, carrying a small crock pot, Liu Xiu barely struggled to get up, gave the old woman a deep salute, and said: "Big Lady, I am about to starve to death, save my life!" Give it a stutter!"
Liu Xiu held the rice can in both hands, looked up at his mouth, and drank a jar of millet soup to only half a can in one breath.
The old woman brought the rest to the wife, the wife looked annoyed, reprimanded the old woman for sending him food to send less, the old woman said what had just happened, the old man not only did not get angry, but also let Liu Xiu drink the rest.
In the middle of talking, people shouted horses from the other side of the mountain, and Liu Xiu hurriedly thanked the old man, took out a piece of silver, and turned to hide in the nearby ravine.
Later, Liu Xiu went to Luoyang to ascend the throne as emperor, recalled this incident, and sent a minister to the village of "Laigou" under the mountain to visit the old couple's mouth, to thank the old man again, and asked the old man that the two had already died.
In order to repay the kindness of the old man, Liu Xiu aimed to build a temple on this mountain, which was named "Temple of the First Death", which was on the top of the shading mountain.
Liu Xiu can stand out from the world, and luck accounts for a large part - both his own luck and a series of mistakes by his opponents.
Because at the time, at least four outperformer stocks looked indistinguishable from him, even more explosive than he was:
Liu Xuan, the first emperor of the Green Forest Army, had just entered Chang'an, killed Wang Mang, and was holding the Jade Seal of chuanguo and the great dragon of the Wulin Alliance, and was turning purple; Hundreds of thousands of Chimei troops in Shandong, through casting lots, elected a Han clan relative from the people- Liu Penzi of the Little Sheep Clan - to become emperor, all the way to the west, to compete with the Green Forest Army for the world; Kui Hu is proud of the right, the people's hearts are attached, and the soldiers are well fed; Gongsun Shu divided the Western Shu Hanzhong, relied on the danger of the terrain, and dreamed of imitating the story of Han Gaozu in that year, and fighting for hegemony in the east.
Liu Xiu's strategy was very clear, that is, to "hide from cats and cats", crouching aside to let the Green Forest Army and the Chimei Army compete for the "Master of the Wulin Alliance", and waiting for both sides to lose and receive the benefits of the fisherman.
As for the Long Right and Western Shu, which could not be reached for the time being, in line with the principle of "long-distance friendship and close attack", they secretly sent Qiu Bo and formed foreign aid, at least they could not be made enemies.
Luck took care of Liu Xiu as always, and this not-so-profound strategy was quickly met with a unanimous and enthusiastic response from the above four high-performing stocks:
After several bloody struggles with the Green Forest Army, the Chimei Army finally laughed and rushed into Chang'an to kill Liu Xuan and praise Liu Penzi.
Although the red one was extinguished by the green, he was seriously injured, coupled with the lack of grain in Guanzhong, he had to wrap up a pile of gold jewelry and women and children to abandon Chang'an and return to the east; Long Right's Kui Huan allowed the East to fight in the dark, calmly and leisurely governing his own acres and three points of land.
In this pile of chaotic tyrants, he admired Liu Xiu's personality more, and took the initiative to send Ma Yuan as an emissary to investigate, believing that Liu Xiu had the most imperial temperament.
To this end, he even persuaded Liu Xuan, who had lost the battle, to cancel the imperial title and in turn follow Liu Xiu as a younger brother.
Most importantly, due to Longyou's unique geographical advantages, he stubbornly blocked Gongsun Shu's way to the east; Gongsun Shu, who was entrenched in Shu, borrowed the saying "Abolish Emperor Chang and establish Gongsun" in Tu Chen, and also said that he had a peculiar palm print, had the appearance of an emperor, and was called emperor in the same year as Liu Xiu, (Gongsun Shu Shangbai, known as "White Emperor", "White Emperor City" is what he built) and repeatedly transmitted texts to the Central Plains, demagogizing people's hearts and gathering hundreds of thousands of people.
However, he sent troops several times, but all of them let Kui Huan block it, send money to the officials to win him over, but they were all resolutely rejected, and even the emissaries let Kui Huan slaughter him, which made Gongsun Shu very depressed.
The Perfect Emperor: Liu Xiu
Liu Xiu was the founding emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and during his reign he was known as "Guangwu Zhongxing". Sima Guang's evaluation: Since the three generations have died, the beauty of weathering has not been as great as the prosperity of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
Liu Xiu was known as a man who had won the world with his bare hands, and after a twelve-year-long unification war, he destroyed the separatist regimes in Kwantung, Longyou, and Western Shu, ending 20 years of war. The Battle of Liu XiuKunyang, the First World War, is famous all over the world. Culturally, Confucianism and integrity were promoted by later historians as the era of "the most beautiful weathering and the most flourishing Confucianism".
In China's history of about two thousand years, it is more commendable that the example of being able to achieve the Qi family's governance of the country is probably only Liu Xiu, the Guangwu Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
