Although the altitude of Lao Bald Mountain is not particularly high, due to its dangerous terrain, it has always been a place of contention for soldiers on the battlefield of the central battlefield of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Stationed here is about a battalion of American troops.
In order to successfully take Lao Bald Mountain, Yang Changhai, commander of the third battalion, decided to first send a small group of troops to find out the terrain on the mountain and find out the enemy's strength and firepower configuration.
After dark on the 29th, the reconnaissance platoon, led by platoon leader Xu Jiming, quietly touched the old bald mountain.

The first class decided to adapt to the situation and continue to touch the south of the old bald mountain, but the conditions did not allow it, because there was an insurmountable abyss in front of it, and there was no way to go.
Under such circumstances, the first class had to return along the same road and go to the north of Lao Bald Mountain to meet with the platoon leader Xu Jiming and the third class, and make other plans.
The second squad, which was making a detour to the southwest of Lao Bald Mountain, encountered a similar situation - when they reached the designated position, they found that there was an open area under the mountain, and the enemy blocked the way up the mountain with several heavy machine guns, and completely did not have the conditions to attack from the southwest.
After consulting with the soldiers, the second squad leader Wang Guangxian decided to continue to the south, and they all had a common idea: under the cover of the adventures of the comrades of the third squad, they had experienced many hardships, and it was difficult to touch here, and they must not go back empty-handed, and they must get some useful clues.
In this way, they bypassed the open field below the mountain and continued from a remote path in the distance towards the south of the old bald mountain.
Unexpectedly, because the enemy believed that the south was their rear, they thought that the volunteers could not touch here, and even if the volunteers went around to the south to attack, they could quickly come to the support of the nearby tun station, so they neglected to defend themselves in the south.
In addition, Xu Jiming and the third squad had previously swung a large-scale ecstasy array directly north of Lao Bald Mountain, disrupting the enemy's deployment and transferring most of the troops originally arranged in the south to the north, thus causing an emptiness in the rear.
Wang Guangxian led the whole class to the bottom of the mountain, and unexpectedly found that there were only a few sentries on the mountain from time to time, so he simply made a bold decision: continue to advance, reconnoiter up the mountain, and explore the route up the mountain as much as possible so that the follow-up troops could attack.
Because the enemy was too careless, the second squad climbed to the middle of the mountain without encountering any obstacles on the way up the mountain.
What made Wang Guangxian even happier was that they had an unexpected gain in this adventure reconnaissance -- there was a naturally formed cave in the southern halfway of the mountain south of Lao Bald Mountain, and the enemy did not arrange for defense here.
Although this cave is not large, there is no passage up the mountain next to it, but it is under a huge rock, with good concealment, and there are old vines climbing on both sides of the cliff, and the volunteer army can completely climb up along these old vines to a secret crossing Chen Cang!
Although Wang Guangxian was only a squad leader, he was very bold, and after observing the terrain around the cave, he immediately gathered the soldiers together and made a bold decision: to send two soldiers with a strong sense of direction to return the same way and report the situation here to the platoon commander and the battalion commander respectively; the few people who remained immediately took action to expand the cave and use it as a hole for soldiers and the starting point of the attack, and when the follow-up troops came, they launched a surprise attack on the enemy from here.

The fighter planes were fleeting, and Yang Changhai kept missing them, so he immediately made a decision and made two arrangements: First, he sent someone to inform the reconnaissance platoons left on the north side of Lao Bald Mountain to continue to launch a feint attack to contain the enemy on the mountain; second, he led the whole battalion to set off immediately, and under the leadership of the soldier of the second class, marched towards the south of Lao Bald Mountain.
When Yang Changhai led the whole battalion to the cave where Wang Guangxian and the others were hiding, the second squad was fully prepared for battle.
Subsequently, Yang Changhai commanded the sharp knife company to climb the vine and attach the ge, quietly climbed the old bald mountain, and launched a surprise attack on the US troops on the mountain.
The U.S. military could not have dreamed that the volunteers would suddenly emerge from the south, be beaten to the head, and after a few officers fled in helicopters, the remaining 300 enemy troops were all annihilated.
By the time the U.S. troops at the nearby tun station heard the news and came out to reinforce, the battle on the hill was over, and the old bald mountain had been completely occupied by the volunteers.
The commanders and fighters of the three battalions skillfully integrated a variety of tactics such as attacking the east and the west, circling back to the encirclement, and secretly crossing Chen Cang, which created this peculiar example of warfare and was highly praised by the commanders of the volunteer army.
