At dawn the next day, the U.S. Twenty-fourth Division came and launched a fierce attack on the Yingzifeng position garrisoned by the 2nd Battalion of the 339th Regiment of the 113th Division.
However, the volunteer soldiers made full use of the advantages of the terrain and fought extremely bravely and tenaciously, so that many of the American charges were fruitless, and they paid a heavy casualty price.
Seeing that the long-term attack was fruitless, the US army had to change its style of play, and they thought left and right, and even decided to copy the classic tactic of the volunteer army to beat them many times -- interspersed with detours.
Based on this line of thinking, the U.S. army sent a unit of its 19th Wing to move quietly, detoured back to the flank of the 113rd Division, seized the 400 heights in Yamanakari, where the 339th Regiment was stationed, and advanced to a distance of only 5 kilometers from the command post of the 113th Division.
If this enemy cannot be eliminated or driven away, it means that the 113th Division and even the entire army's positions are in danger of being caught between the front and back of the US army, cutting off the retreat route, and falling into its encirclement.
This move of the US military is really sinister, and the situation has become very critical!
Liu Haiqing, deputy commander of the 113rd Division, received an order from commander Liang Xingchu to organize his forces as soon as possible to eliminate the enemy in the mountains.
Liu Haiqing gave the task of this Jedi counterattack to Xing Ze, the political commissar of the 338th Regiment, and asked him to break the previous practice of night operations and immediately take action during the day to fight the enemy back.

So, how effective is this tactic? The soldiers of the 338th Regiment did not disappoint Liu Haiqing and Liang Xingchu, and they executed very well.
In order to eliminate the enemy as soon as possible, the two groups of men and horses immediately set off after receiving the order, and arrived at the designated fixed point at dusk and midnight respectively, thus realizing the counter-encirclement of the American troops in the mountains.
After Liu Haiqing learned of this situation, in order to ensure the realization of the enemy's goal of annihilating the enemy, he temporarily transferred three companies from the position of the 339th Regiment and arranged them on a route where the enemy might be able to recur.
In this way, the volunteer troops formed a very tight encirclement of the US army.

The 2nd Battalion and the Ninth Company of the 3rd Battalion launched a surprise attack on the enemy in the mountains, which caught the Americans by surprise and soon collapsed. They tried to break through to the east, but they were intercepted by the volunteers and beaten up.
The first and third battalions also launched a fierce attack on the two highlands of 133 and 141 respectively, and after 4 hours and more than 2 hours of fierce fighting, respectively, they captured two heights in one fell swoop.

Such a situation could not have been better, and Liu Haiqing ordered all the units of the 338th Regiment to launch a fierce offensive against the besieged enemies without mercy and completely eliminate them!
Taking advantage of the terrain, the 338th Regiment first captured the three battalions of the US Nineteenth Wing and beat them severely.
Although this enemy called for more than a dozen cannons, most of the aircraft to support it, and dispatched many tanks to attack desperately, it was still unable to break free of the encirclement and was compressed under the two highlands of 133 and 141.

However, with the belief of victory and tenacious willpower, the soldiers bravely rushed to kill and vowed to die so that the enemy could not easily escape!
The battle entered a white-hot state, the battle for the 133rd and 141st heights was particularly fierce, and some positions changed hands repeatedly, but the 338th Regiment always firmly grasped the initiative.
At the critical moment, Hu Guang, deputy commander of the 338th Regiment, personally went into battle and led a battalion to bravely penetrate and annihilate a battalion of the US army in one fell swoop. The 2nd Battalion and the Ninth Company of the 3rd Battalion coordinated in time to defeat the American troops with unstoppable momentum.
In the ensuing battle, the 338th Regiment pursued and fought fiercely, wiping out most of the American troops in the encirclement in the nearby fields and mountains.
Although the Americans sent reinforcements in an attempt to rescue the units of the Nineteenth Wing in the encirclement, they were frightened and withdrew when they heard that the rescue target had been crushed by the volunteers.
At this point, the Jedi counterattack of the 338th Regiment in the area of the mountain ended with a big victory.
In this battle, more than 400 US officers and men were killed and wounded, dozens of enemy prisoners were captured, and a large number of cars, weapons, food and some tanks were captured.
Although the Yamanakari Counterattack Was Not the Largest and Most Brilliant Battle of the Thirty-eighth Army on the Battlefield of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, it was of very unique significance.
When the US army "copied" the interspersed and roundabout tactics of the volunteer army, and surrounded the volunteer army with a part of the troops, the volunteer army immediately used the interspersed roundabout tactics to implement counter-encirclement, and finally defeated this enemy force.
