It wasn't until 31 years later, one day at the end of January 1979, that Zheng Weishan came across a January 24 copy of the People's Daily, which featured an article by Nie Shuai titled "Fighting on the Second Front— Remembering Liu Ren."
Zheng Weishan learned from the text that Liu Ren was one of the unsung heroes who discovered Jiang Fu's sneak plot and urgently reported it.
This unexpected gain made Zheng Weishan very excited, he was driven by a complex emotion, and he wanted to make this matter clear.
After several visits, Zheng Weishan finally found out the source of the top-secret intelligence from the personnel working in the underground party in Beiping at that time, and solved the five-character mystery that had been buried for 31 years.
In early October 1948, a month after the Liaoshen Campaign began, the elder Jiang came from Shenyang to Beiping. It seems that on the same day, Liu Ren, director of the City Work Department of the North China Bureau, was instructed by Nie Shuai to actively carry out work in the Beiping underground party and understand the movements of old Chiang Kai-shek.
This is clearly an extremely important but extremely difficult task.
At that time, although there was a fierce struggle between light and darkness, progress and reaction, after all, it was a dark world with dense haze, black clouds pressing down on the city, and jackals everywhere.
In particular, after the enemy's situation on the battlefield was tight, in order to fight to the death, they tried every means to strengthen their external rule and internal control.
In such a harsh environment, it is not easy to obtain the core secrets of the enemy.
However, under the guidance of the principle of "shading the elite, laying ambush for a long time, accumulating strength, and waiting for the opportunity" under the guidance of the Beiping underground party, which was specifically led by Liu Ren, after a long period of painstaking management, it already had a fairly deep foundation.
After study, the Beiping underground organization entrusted the heavy task of clarifying the movements of old Chiang Kai-shek to Liu Shiping, an underground party member.
At that time, there were many reactionary newspapers in Peiping, one of which was the famous Yishi Bao. Liu Shiping broke into Yishi Bao in his early years and was the director of the newspaper's interview department.
With this profession and the identity of the director of the interview department, there are also conditions for extensive contacts with reactionary figures.
Those who had the deepest contacts with Liu Shiping were Eyousan, commander of the 12th Brigade of the Reorganized Cavalry; Du Changcheng, commander of the North China Special Station of the Enemy's Secret Bureau and commander of the North China "Suppression General" Demolition Brigade; and Liu Jianlong, commander of the Third Battalion of the Gendarmerie.
Liu Shiping and the three of them are all Suiyuan fellow villagers, and together with Eyousan and Du Changcheng, they are still classmates who grew up in middle school. They lived very closely, and whenever they met, they drank and talked about everything, as if they had become a "gang".
On the morning of October 23, in front of the gate of the "Suppression General" in North China, there were many sentries, the security was tight, and pedestrians were far away.

The feast lasted until the early hours of the next morning. Liu Shiping thought to himself that he must quickly report this important situation to his superiors, so he took advantage of the fact that Eyousan was asleep and did not wake up, bid farewell to Du and Liu, and calmly left.
He remembered that Du Changcheng had mentioned that his demolition brigade had already loaded a car at Xizhimen Station and was ready to leave, so he decided to go and see it for himself, just in case there was deception.
Liu Shiping was impatient and quickly ran to the entrance of Xizhimen Station. He took advantage of the special status of the interview director to successfully pass the interrogation and enter the station.
