The Team at Tongji University develops a vaccination robot: painless and needle-free

IT Home January 17 news, according to Wen Wei Po reported that a few days ago, the team led by Associate Professor Qi Peng of Tongji University officially released a fully automatic needle-free vaccine injection robot, which is based on the world's leading human body three-dimensional model recognition algorithm and adaptive robot technology, combined with mechatronic needleless syringe design, jointly developed by a number of technology companies (Feixi Technology, Beijing Kuaishuer Medical Technology Co., Ltd.) and the Chinese Cardiovascular Doctor Innovation Club (CCI). It is the first time that this complete technical verification scheme has been released in China.

IT Home learned that this robot is named "Houyi", Qi Peng introduced, the automatic vaccine injection robot can automatically identify the designated vaccine injection location on the human body, such as the commonly used human upper limb deltoid muscle parts. The injection process is roughly divided into three steps. First of all, the automatic vaccine injection robot shoots the human body through a simple three-dimensional point cloud camera, quickly and automatically fits the three-dimensional model of the corresponding part of the human body, and accurately identifies the vaccine injection site and injection angle. At the same time, the seven-axis force control adaptive robot arm has high-precision, rapid response force control performance, and the application of high-precision force control lamination algorithm can ensure that the end of the syringe is vertically and closely fitted to the injection site, improving the injection effect and reducing the pain experience.

The needleless injection part of the robot is then able to pass through a high-pressure column of water, pushing the agent through a very fine nozzle, forming a jet that passes through the skin at high speed and directly into the treatment site. The drug tube is sterile for single use, which is discarded after injection to ensure safe use.

For the hospital application scenario of vaccine injection, the current robot injection system adopts air pressure drive technology, which has the advantage of being suitable for rapid continuous injection. The solution injection can be completed in half a second, and the injection accuracy can be accurate to 0.01mL, which can be adapted to the dosage requirements of different vaccines. At the same time, it also has the function of injection depth regulation, which can be applied to different types of vaccines injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly. The closer the syringe head fits to the surface of the skin and the more vertical the contact angle, the better the injection effect and the less pain it feels.
