Langya Relief Grocery Store

Langya Relief Grocery Store

"Relief Grocery Store" is the first book I have read by Keigo Higashino, and the only one so far. That was several years ago, and I don't know why I haven't read his other books since. Before that, I had not read this style of novel, and the style I was referring to was not the "crossing" genre, but that almost all the characters who appeared in the book were related to the Nanaya Grocery Store and the Marukoen Orphanage, and this character relationship design not only made me sigh, but also made me forget for a long time.

A few years ago, when I learned that the mainland was going to remake this story, my heart was cold, and I thought that such a good story was about to be destroyed. I didn't go to see the movie when it was released, and sure enough, the online reviews were the same as I thought. But then I still didn't hold back, probably watching the mainland remake of the same name movie on the Internet last year. I don't remember anything about it now, which probably shows that it was really a film that wasn't worth mentioning for me.

Today I stumbled upon a japanese version of the "Langya Relief Grocery Store", I don't know if it is to distinguish it from the mainland version, its Chinese name was deliberately added "Langya", without using the same translation name as the title of the book (its original Japanese name is ナミヤ雑雑貨店の奇蹟).

When watching the movie, the feelings of the original reading the book came back little by little, although it always felt like it was still a little bit worse, but I felt that at least this was worthy of the original work.

Another advantage of the film is that it can be more direct in the rendering of some emotions. For example, when reading a book, the fish shop musician saves Xiaoqin's brother, and it is impossible to achieve an emotional climax only through imagination. But in the movie, there are a series of direct outputs such as picture, sound, performance, music, etc., and it is difficult not to produce emotional fluctuations when squeezed into your eyes and brain in a short period of time. Of course, the premise is that your viewing is invested, and the director's design is natural.

But cinema is also limited because it only gives a possibility. And when each story is seen by different people, their imagination will be different, and even when the same person looks at the same story at different stages of life, their imagination will be different.

This sentence applies to all works and corresponding films. So it's hard not to think of "The Kite Chaser", which is great, but the movie of the same name can only be regarded as a pass, far from being worthy of the original book.

Suddenly, my mind went haywire. When I said these words, it was as if there was another voice in my head. "If you don't think it works, then you tell me how to shoot it?". Yes, of course I don't make movies, and the things I said above are just my subjective feelings, and I can't even say where it's bad.

It feels a bit off the beaten track, but in any case, the book "Relief Grocery Store" is worth reading. If you are a movie, the mainland version can not be watched, the Japanese version, you can watch it again after you read the book every once in a while, and you may be able to learn something new.
