Ubisoft had previously made a 3D model of Notre Dame cathedral during the development of Assassin's Creed, which was later used in restoration work on Notre Dame. And Ubisoft also launched the VR game "Notre Dame de Paris Time Back" later, for players to visit notre dame cathedral before the fire. This may also be why the documentary filmmaker came to Ubisoft to work with him, believing that Ubisoft has a special affection for Notre Dame.
A Ubisoft spokesperson introduced them to preliminary talks with filmmakers in early 2021.
