U.S. User Class Action Lawsuit Apple: PowerbeatsPro Headset Battery Life Shrinks

According to AppleInsider, a class-action lawsuit will sue Apple, claiming that the battery in the Powerbeats Pro does not have the officially mentioned nine hours.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses Apple of overburdening the battery life of the Beats by Dre Powerbeats Pro. While Apple says it can last up to 9 hours on a single charge, New York resident Alejandro Vivar says that's not the case.

Part of the problem, the lawsuit says, is that the headphones don't necessarily charge properly, which is blamed on poorly designed charging cases. Allegedly, the headphones could not fit into the headphone case accurately, preventing them from charging.

The lawsuit also makes the "IPX4 rated sweat and water resistance" statement another cause for concern. Vivar said sweat could corrode charging contacts, adding that sweat damage may not be covered by the product warranty.

With the problems with Powerbeats Pro not being disclosed, the lawsuit alleges that Apple made more profits "at the expense of consumers."

IT House understands that the lawsuit is intended to represent purchasers in multiple states, including New York, Georgia, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Virginia.

This isn't the first time Apple has been sued over powerbeats performance. Previously, consumers complained about the failure of Powerbeats 2 and Powerbeats 3, which were eventually voluntarily dismissed in 2020.
