Binhai New Area Museum
The last time I went to the Binhai New Area Museum was in the summer of 2019, and these photos were also taken at that time. The reason why the old thing is mentioned again is because I have just been to the Dongli District Museum, and suddenly I think of the museum that has never written about the coastal. In fact, I didn't like to write about museums before, and I thought that I had never had the pleasure of searching for the past, but museums are really treasures, and you can find a lot of information you want here. There are not many district-level museums in Tianjin, and the Binhai New Area Museum is not large, but the exhibition is also careful. After going there, you will find that in this sea-backed place of vicissitudes and mulberry fields, the coastal new city actually has a deep historical precipitation.

Although a new cultural center was built in Binhai New Area with "five museums and one corridor", the district museum did not move in. The museum still uses the premises of the Old Tanggu Museum, located in the Riverside Park, which is relatively hidden. The museum is not large, with only one floor and two exhibition halls in the east and west. It is divided into six exhibition themes: "Canghai Sangtian", "Yanxing Caochang", "Haimen Gusai", "Industrial Xingbang" and "Gukou Dawn".

In fact, the history of this area is not very long. After the Yellow River of the Southern Song Dynasty was diverted to Shandong and entered the sea, the ancestors gradually settled and multiplied in the Binhai New Area area. So the first theme is the shell and oyster reef in the land of retreat, the three shell banks in the Bohai Bay area are the focus, and there is the Ancient Coast Site Museum on Gulin Street. For two hundred years from the Southern Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, the coastal area was silent. Some of the Han and Tang dynasty artifacts exhibited in the museum were confiscated by the Tianjin Port Customs, and the major households of local excavated cultural relics were the ruins of Jianguo Village and Shajingzi, all located on Gulin Street. The history of Chenglu in the Dagang area is obviously longer than that of Tanggu and Hangu.

Until the Ming and Qing dynasties, the capital of the country was chosen in Beijing, and it was necessary to build forts at the mouth of the Outer Yuhaikou, Dagukou and Beitang River, and was valued by the central government. Thus, the two exhibition themes of "Yanxing Caochang" and "Haimen Gusai" were launched. Boiling sea salt and fishing are the skills on which the ancestors made a living, especially the salt industry has also spawned the rise of the national industry in modern China. At the lower end of the Nine Rivers, the water transport industry has brought a large number of migrants to the coastal areas. Coastal defense is a key to the safety of the central government, with forts and the Tagu Sea Temple. This led to the late Qing Dynasty Dagukou Defense War, where Li Hongzhang, Qi Shan, Senggelinqin and other late Qing dynasty dignitaries successively left their figures.

"Industrial Rejuvenation" and "Gukou Dawn" show the brilliant achievements made by Binhai New Area from the foreign affairs movement to the stage of national industrial development. Dagu Dockyard, Jiuda Fine Salt Factory, Yongli Alkali Factory, a large number of industrial projects that occupied a pivotal position in China at that time, illustrate the contribution made by Binhai New Area to the development of modern China, and also reflect Tianjin's strong industrial foundation.

Since then, the coastal area has experienced the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and a series of precious historical relics from the Battle of Tanggu have been exhibited in the museum. By the 1980s, with the construction of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and the establishment of Binhai New Area in this century, Binhai was "pearls and bright"!

This is the basic exhibition situation of the Binhai New Area Museum. Among them, "Yanxing Caochang" shows the folk customs of the coastal area, and the "Eight Great Dumplings of Hangu" is impressive. "Haimen Gusai" shows the ancient monuments in the old Tanggu area, such as the Dagu Sea Temple, the Cao Kun Family Tomb, the Xinhe Niangniang Temple, the Zizi Guanyin Temple and other disappeared monuments, and only here can hear the echo of history.
