At this time two years ago, the outbreak of the epidemic in Wuhan, Chinese New Year's Eve eve, Wuhan, which enjoys the reputation of "the thoroughfare of nine provinces", was pressed the "pause button", and the epidemic prevention war immediately started!
At that time, Chen Huawen, a teacher at China University of Geosciences, was in Wuhan, and he saw many touching stories when he participated in the school's epidemic prevention and control work. He decided to use the way of painting to intuitively and truly record the "tremors" that the city experienced.

From February 14, 2020 to April 5, 2020, in the past 50 days, Teacher Chen Huawen created 100 paintings of the "epidemic" of the war, recording the medical staff, PLA commanders and fighters, community workers, volunteers and many other groups who quietly contributed to the city during the "epidemic" in Wuhan.
Before and after the unsealing of Wuhan, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily and other state-run media made detailed reports on Chen Huawen's "epidemic" paintings, which triggered great repercussions in society.
The 100 paintings are vivid portrayals of the "epidemic" in Wuhan and truly convey the "great anti-epidemic spirit", of which 20 paintings of the "epidemic" are collected by the National Museum of China.

Immediately after that, dozens of publishing institutions contacted Teacher Chen Huawen and wanted to collect and publish 100 paintings of the "epidemic", including the China Children's Press and Publication Corporation. Hao Xianghong, then vice president, and Miao Wei, director of the book center, also keenly grasped the spiritual value of these 100 paintings, and the responsible editor, Mr. Li Shimei, contacted Mr. Chen Huawen for the first time to discuss publication matters. The China Youth Society impressed Teacher Chen Huawen with its speed, sincerity and professional publishing ability, and after reaching a cooperation intention, the editor and the author immediately began to edit and create picture books.
In order to more perfectly convey the spirit contained in these 100 paintings, teacher Chen Huawen specially wrote corresponding texts around the paintings. Although the text content of the picture book is not much, it must be accurate and concise, and it must be both literary and readable, and it took more than half a year to finalize the draft several times in the process of creation.
In order to more comprehensively and truly present the "epidemic" without gun smoke with the full participation of all members of Wuhan (and even the participation of the people of the whole country), the picture book also added a special chapter "Heart Language of the War epidemic", inviting people from all walks of life in Wuhan to tell the real experience and true thoughts of that period.
After a year and a half of meticulous polishing, this book that integrates the painstaking efforts of everyone, "City of Heroes, Wuhan War "Epidemic" Atlas" was finally published on the eve of the second anniversary of the outbreak of the epidemic prevention war!

The 'epidemic' of the Wuhan war is destined to be written into history and will inevitably be remembered. ...... In the long river of time, the Chinese nation has encountered various crises, and our ancestors have used courage and wisdom to turn crises into safety time and again. The fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic is a severe test for the people of Wuhan and the people of the whole country, and we have survived. ”
Yes, we survived, so we had City of Heroes, a moving epic that should be cherished by all Chinese.
