The number of new energy vehicle registrations has doubled, and the province's motor vehicle data in 2021 is released

By the end of 2021, the number of motor vehicles in the province reached 23.6592 million (excluding tractors), an increase of 6.08% over the previous year. Among them, there are 21.8254 million cars (including three-wheeled cars and low-speed trucks), 1.6212 million motorcycles and 212,500 trailers. The number of motor vehicle drivers in the province was 32.2961 million, an increase of 4.65% over the previous year, of which 30.765 million were automobile drivers.

The cities of Suqian and Lianyungang exceeded one million for the first time

By the end of 2021, the number of motor vehicles in the province was 23.6592 million. Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Nantong and Xuzhou ranked among the top 5 in the province in terms of motor vehicle ownership, with 4789494, 3054930, 2457317, 2282859 and 2066003 respectively. The number of motor vehicles in Suqian and Lianyungang exceeded one million for the first time, with 1,064,100 and 1051168 respectively.

The number of registered motor vehicles exceeded 2.32 million in the whole year

The 10 districted cities showed double-digit growth

In 2021, there were 2.3289 million newly registered motor vehicles in the province, and the annual number of motor vehicle registrations increased by 11.45% over the same period last year. Among them, 2.083 million newly registered vehicles, accounting for 89.44%. Judging from the situation of each districted city, 10 cities in the province showed double-digit growth in motor vehicle registration. Among them, the largest increase was in Yancheng, Wuxi and Nantong, with the annual motor vehicle registration volume increasing by 18.13%, 16.67% and 16.37% respectively over the same period of the previous year; Lianyungang, Huai'an, Changzhou, Suqian, Zhenjiang, Nanjing and Taizhou increased by 13.89%, 12.43%, 11.68%, 11.65%, 11.48%, 11.13% and 10.07% respectively.

The number of passenger cars reached 20.12 million

The number of private cars exceeded 17.73 million

By the end of 2021, the number of passenger cars in the province reached 20.1253 million, accounting for 85.06% of the total number of vehicles, an increase of 1.246 million units over the same period of the previous year, an increase of 6.6%. From the perspective of the composition of passenger cars, small passenger cars were 19.9109 million units, accounting for 98.93%; the number of large, medium-sized and micro passenger cars was 109288, 34526 and 70537 respectively. By the end of 2021, the number of small and micro passenger cars (private cars) registered in the name of individuals reached 17.7364 million, an increase of 1.037 million units over the same period of the previous year, an increase of 6.2%.

The number of trucks carried was 1.5 million

Heavy-duty and light-duty trucks have grown significantly

By the end of 2021, the number of trucks in the province reached 1.5053 million, accounting for 6.36% of the total number of vehicles, an increase of 41,700 units over the same period of the previous year, an increase of 2.85%. From the perspective of the composition of trucks, the number of heavy,duty, medium-sized, light and micro-trucks was 615145, 100948, 789,040 and 165 respectively, compared with the same period last year, heavy-duty and light-duty trucks increased by 48,049 and 64,802 respectively, an increase of 8.5% and 9%, and medium-sized and micro-trucks decreased by 7,525 and 62, down 6.94% and 27.31% respectively.

The number of operating motor vehicles reached 1.47 million

Freight and dangerous chemical transport vehicles increased slightly

By the end of 2021, the number of operating motor vehicles in the province was 1.4731 million, accounting for 6.23% of the total number of motor vehicles, an increase of 40,500 units over the same period of the previous year, an increase of 2.83%. Among them, there are 17,710 road passengers, 57,876 bus passengers, 50,616 taxi passengers, 7,913 tourist passengers, 21,019 freight 1232440, 21,019 rental cars, 46,324 coach cars, and 39,155 dangerous chemical transport vehicles.

The number of new energy vehicles increased by 122.2% to exceed 500,000 units

Maintain a sustained growth trend

By the end of 2021, the number of new energy vehicles in the province will be 505101, accounting for 2.31% of the total number of vehicles, an increase of 277747 vehicles over the same period of the previous year, an increase of 122.2%. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicles is 443345, accounting for 87.8% of the total number of new energy vehicles. Since 2018, the number of new energy vehicles has been 99,903, 151899, 227354, and 505101, showing a continuous growth trend.

In 2021, the province's new energy vehicle registration 239058, an increase of 233.7% over 2020, accounting for 11.4% of the total number of vehicle registrations, an increase of 7.7 percentage points over the same period last year. Judging from the monthly data of 2021, the proportion of new energy vehicle registrations in the total number of vehicle registrations has continued to rise, from 6% at the beginning of the year to 25% in December.

The number of car transfer registrations continues to grow

Used car trading is becoming increasingly active

In 2021, the province handled a total of 2964932 motor vehicle transfer registration business. Among them, 2285672 are transferred within the jurisdiction, 355524 are transferred across cities in the province, and 323736 are transferred across provinces. In the past five years, the proportion of automobile transfer registration and registration business volume in the province has increased from 0.58 in 2016 to 1.27 in 2021, reflecting the increasingly active second-hand car trading market.

The age group of drivers is relatively concentrated

4.51% of new drivers with less than one year of driving experience

Judging from the age distribution of motor vehicle drivers in the province, it is mainly concentrated between the age group of 26 and 50 years old. Among them, there are 11.4392 million drivers in the 26-35 age group, accounting for 35.42% of the total number of drivers; there are 11.8347 million drivers in the 36-50 age group, accounting for 36.64% of the total number of drivers.

Judging from the driving age of drivers, there are 1.4567 million drivers with driving age of less than one year, accounting for 4.51% of the total number of drivers; 9.7044 million and 6.0992 million drivers with driving age of 6-10 years and 11-15 years, accounting for 30% and 18.9% of the total number of drivers, respectively.

From the perspective of the distribution of permitted driving types, among them, 27.5153 million people held Class C quasi-driving licenses, accounting for 85.20% of the total number of drivers; 3.2497 million people held Class A and B quasi-driving licenses, accounting for 10.06% of the total number of drivers.

The number of vehicle and driver's license business online transactions has increased significantly

In 2021, the province's public security traffic police department will continue to deepen the reform of "decentralization service" and promote the "online office" of vehicle driving management business. The province handled vehicle and driver's license business online 5.326 million times, an increase of 1.674 million times over 2020, an increase of 45.84%. Among them, 439,000 numbers were selected on the Internet, accounting for 8.6%; 1,686,300 temporary number plates were issued online, accounting for 32.94%; 2,290,400 exemption marks were issued, accounting for 44.74%; 843,600 copies of replacement licenses and driver's licenses, accounting for 16.48%. By the end of 2021, more than 6 million people in the province have applied for electronic driving licenses, facilitating 192,000 car owners to directly handle transaction registration procedures in the place where the vehicle is transferred.
