Valve, who returned from a vacation, reconfirmed today that the Steam Deck will start shipping at the end of February, while the volume version has begun to expand production. At the same time, they have recently sent a large number of developer kits to enable more games to support playing on handhelds. The full statement is as follows:

happy New Year! Our team has returned from vacation and is on full steam – bringing you a few updates today.

First and foremost, we can launch steam deck on time. Despite the global pandemic, supply issues, and shipping issues, it looks like we can still start shipping by the end of February. In case you forget, you can see the estimated time to place your order here.

At the same time, work and testing of the Steam Deck validation project is underway. You'll soon see Deck verification results for more and more Steam games. We looked at four main categories: Input, Seamless Experience, Display, and System Support. You can find more details about this project here.

It's equally important to have developers able to test their games for the wonderful green "Verify By" checkmark, so we've been giving away developer kits in large quantities. A new batch of developer kits is under review, and we sent out hundreds of kits last month (we will continue to approve and send out more). Thank you for your patience, developers!

Even a thousand words are not as good as having a picture and having the truth. The production version is being expanded, and we've got a couple of the first machines in-house for testing and evaluation (they look great!). )
