Tesla was exposed to software vulnerabilities! 19-year-olds can remotely start the vehicle and turn off the safety system

Tesla owners panicked.

On January 11, a 19-year-old boy, David Colombo, posted that he had found a software vulnerability in Tesla's system that had remotely hacked into 25 Tesla cars in 13 countries and would not be discovered by Tesla owners themselves.

Colombo said that after hacking into the system, he could remotely open the doors and windows, and could start the car without a key, and even turn off the vehicle's security system. Colombo also said it could see if there was a driver in the car, turned on the vehicle's sound system, and had the headlights flash.

As for whether he can control the driving of the car, he said that he cannot remotely interfere with the owner's operation and cannot drive the car. The 19-year-old, who calls himself an "information technology expert," has not yet revealed details of the software's vulnerability. In addition, Colombo also said that only a small percentage of Tesla owners around the world have been affected.

In 2019, two hackers also found that tesla model 3 has security vulnerabilities that can invade tesla cars' internal web browsers, and finally Tesla officials gave them this car as a prize and provided a reward of $35,000.

At present, Tesla officials have not responded to this. Colombo said he has been in touch with Tesla's security team, which is currently investigating the issue and will inform him if there is an update. In the current era of intelligent vehicles, these cars equipped with intelligent systems are also facing safety hazards in data, systems and other aspects.
